I am not sure how much of a detriment anyone being part slug is, truly, given that there are many individuals in my home world that share traits with beasts. Granted, they tend to be more charismatic creatures like cats and rabbits than slugs, but I would still not consider it to be that unfortunate so long as it does not hamper his daily life.
