Happy New Year! ... You're still here. Looks like The Captain wasn't lying when he said the murdering is now up to you. That, or you can all live here on your own. Regardless, it's time to settle in. The days start passing much less eventfully after that first one, and, well... on it goes, huh?

There might not be a whole cruise ship to explore just yet, but there are a variety of amenities available to all of you! Who ever heard of a boring cruise ship, anyway? As the week goes on, you might even start to see some of those strange coins appear for you!

Better buckle down and get to know your fellow passengers, though, if you want to stand a chance of weathering this storm.

I sure did! I found this book about the Atlantic Ocean, which I'm sure we all know that's where we are, since...we have a ticket for a cruise there.

This page here seems to have been opened a few too many times. This is that triangle from the superstitions. If we're in the middle of it and all those supersitions are true, then I guess giant tentacles from the bottom of the sea isn't...too much of a surprise.

Well, that would certainly explain quite a few things. What's the X and the question mark for, you reckon?

I dunno, but it's all in marker, it wasn't printed on the book. Someone went and drew it for some reason. The Captain, probably.

[He's joking, but whatever it is, it's probably not good.]

His profile does say he likes finding loot. It's not impossible.

What sort of superstitions apply to this Bermuda Triangle?

Sea serpents! Ships and planes going missing, and all sorts of monsters. It's a place you want to avoid no matter what.

I dunno if this world we're in is a place where that all is true, but in mine it's not really that dangerous of a place. Just a lot of water.

If Mr. Constantine is correct, we've got the sea serpents down, and we're definitely missing and on a ship. ...what is a monster in your world, exactly?

Erdrea has such a location, though it is called The Strand. It is a location out at sea that is shrouded in fog, and sea vessels often drift into it and become lost. While I was traveling with the Luminary, we ended up lost in there ourselves!

I certainly wouldn't consider it safe by any means, since we came across monsters and shipwrecks in there, but it wasn't impossible to escape from! We even ended up going back there a few times.

Hmm. This Bermuda Triangle stuff sounds pretty convenient for what we've got, but does it change, like... time? Or the stars? Does it teleport people around?

[She's just saiyan. There's some baffling bullshit going on here and then there's the sea monsters and look, she's done her digital homework but paper books aren't as much her priority so far.

She should probably get to it....... eventually.]

I don't really feel missing. Just kinda kidnapped still.

Ships were once rumored to disappear mysteriously when they entered the Bermuda triangle. But that did not happen out of proportion when compared to any other part of the ocean - it was simply one of the most heavily traveled shipping lanes, when ships were still a common mode mode of commercial transport.

Then why would it have garnered such a reputation? Surely something about the area made it more prone to such happenings than others.

I looked through most of the books Monday night, and there aren't any from before 1990. There's also a few that seem to be from our own individual worlds, which seem to be pretty new.

He's gone through quite the effort to set this up, that's clear. I'm starting to think this was planned from the start--or at least, he planned to have some passengers.

I asked for clarification on those profiles - Mr. Jones said the Captain did his research; it sounds like he knows quite a lot about us. It's strange that he'd put that much effort in if he was planning on killing us immediately.

Makes me think that ol' Jonesy is being held here against his will.

[Which has...concerning implications with what conclusions they've drawn about the Captain.]

Given the profile we have for him, that seems accurate. I imagine he's not able to act against the Captain himself, otherwise he wouldn't still be here.

[Or maybe the Captain is more powerful than Davy Jones??? Nah, surely not.]

Lord Davy told me it wasn't a standard contract, but rather that the Captain has leverage. Which implies to me that the Captain's hold is more mundane than magical, somehow.

Yeah, he also told me everything was set up by the Captain. He was surprised when I showed him one of the books about ghost stories I found-it did mention him, but the book was quite dissimilar to what we've seen of him.

Everything does look quite well-maintained. And it's not as if he's using any of the public spaces himself.

We don't necessarily know that. Maybe he's sneakin' out at night and lifting weights when we're not looking.
