(too late) you're at the party
[Well, it's safe to say that trial fucking sucked. Therefore, some sort of afterparty is in order. Constantine is admittedly not good at throwing parties without some sort of liquor or other drug involved, but that's where Data and Sylvando guide him.
First order of business--invites. Upon returning to your rooms, crumpled pieces of paper have been taped to the doors. Written in poor handwriting is the following:]
meet at the lounge
bring whatever you want
[Simple, but effective. The lounge itself has been livened up a bit with Sylvando's help. Some nicely patterned fabric has been draped around on the tables to liven up the place a little, and snacks from the café and vending machines have been placed out for people to peruse.
A few supplies from the first aid room have been gathered, as well, for those who may need it. But perhaps the help is unnecessary, as tomorrow will likely bring another New Years Eve. And with it, another week of despair and frustration.
But for now, they can forget about that and pretend that all that matters is the present.]

top deck
That's what you're doing as well, ja?
[You don't mind if he takes a seat nearby, right? Right.]
Today certainly was... a lot.
[That's the kindest way to put it.]
no subject
...Yes. That's putting it lightly, to say the least.
[Plumeria sighs a bit, just...running her hand through her hair frustratedly, after everything.]
I can't say that I was expecting that blue haired girl to turn out to be like that. Nor the life or death situation that he just...laughed at, the entire time. I certainly wouldn't mind forgetting today ever happened.
[Honestly, Plumeria laughs--it's a bit sharp sounding, forced, but it's there.]
Ironic, all things considered.
no subject
Careful, you'll give him ideas.
[That's a joke, though. Using the same motive next week wouldn't be enough of a show for the Captain.]
What happened with Allenby was truly unfortunate. But it's the Captain that has me the most worried. He's really only interested in a show, isn't he?
[Wanting one of us to sacrifice ourselves to Allenby for his entertainment... Hmm.]
And things are only going to get even worse now.
no subject
He really is. He doesn't care what has to happen or who has to die, or--anything about that. He's nothing but a wretched dastard who deserves to get torn asunder by the kraken himself. Maybe we'd at least get to hear him scream in terror for once.
[jesus christmas plum]
...You're right, though. It really is only going to get worse. And there's really just nothing we can do about it, at this point, is there?
no subject
I wonder if we're getting a bit closer. It was just for a moment... but it might have been him that was on the deck of Mr. Jones' ship. While I doubt we'll have any chance of getting at him... I wonder if maybe we'll be able to learn more next week.
[During the next execution, rather. It's a truly morbid thing to bring up, but it isn't like this is going to stop now that the ball's really rolling.]
no subject
But maybe you're right. Here's hoping if so.
[Even if it's a shoddy way of finding out more. Watch more people die, get more information. Ugh. Plumeria sighs a bit.]
...I just hope whatever motivation he gives us next doesn't involve the past. I'm getting really tired of that.
no subject
[Unless Allenby was out because she was considering killing because of it in the first place?? Honestly, he doesn't really know what happened there, it was a mess.]
It was quite remarkable how quickly everyone jumped in to stop her, though. Seeing so many people working together so well and so quickly was quite admirable.
[If things were different and there were no motives, maybe we legitimately could survive on this boat without killing each other for a little while. Crazy.]
no subject
Still, there's...something of a softened look as Plumeria considers those words, directed upward.]
...It really was. Honestly, I wouldn't have expected some of them to jump in and act to stop her at all. Everyone was looking out for one another. Even those who were too afraid tried to act in service of helping at least someone.
Maybe in a better world, we'd all actually be friends.
[...It's only slightly sarcastic.]
no subject
[But his expression isn't really a proper smirk either.]
I think we will reach a point where we're able to work together better... But it does us little good without a goal. We'll have to keep searching for something that can help us.
[Which is far easier said than done. It's not really the sort of thing that inspires hope after three weeks of coming up more or less empty-handed.]
no subject
[But Yeager does have a point, either way. Plumeria nods her head in response to that second bit, though, clearly in agreement.]
At this rate, we're bound to find some new things in whatever rooms open up to us when we wake up tomorrow. [...] Well--I guess that depends on what happens. But it happened last time, at least.
[...]
Zero held a meeting last week, didn't he? After the motive was revealed. [Plumeria was, uh, very much not here for that.] I imagine someone must have found something, at least. So...maybe if we keep towards that path, we'll find something to lay him low.
no subject
I think I may have something. But I want to double check first, to make sure that I'm not getting anyone's hopes up on the off chance I'm wrong. If I tell you what it is, can you keep it between us for the time being?
...Well, I suppose you can tell Freyja, if you'd like.
[Since asking her not to talk to Freyja about it is stupid. There's a reason for this though, and he does seem serious; this isn't something he's messing around with or making up.]
no subject
Yes, I can keep it a secret from the rest of them. What did you manage to find?
[...On one hand, she don't trust like that. But on the other, he is being serious. It's absolutely going to be a secret between the three of them, let's be honest, but Plumeria is more than willing to keep it hush hush.]
no subject
Mr. Jones has already confirmed that he is serving the Captain and seems to have no choice in the matter and very little control over what goes on here. This lines up quite well with the conversations I've had with him - he doesn't seem to hold any fondness for the Captain, and his profile does mention that he likes "control" and dislikes "his job" and "being tricked". I think all of this would fit together very well.
[...]
But I must admit that it's just speculation at this point. If I were to tell everyone and get their hopes up only for it to be wrong... Well, it'll obviously be extremely demoralizing. I want to ask Mr. Jones about it first. He's been honest with what he can and cannot answer for me, anyway.
no subject
Well, that's interesting. I can certainly see why you wouldn't want to let that information out. They'd be on that much like flies to honey. If that does turn out to be true...well, it would certainly explain very much.
[Plumeria mimes a motion of zipping her lips, though, the smallest of smirks tugging at the corners of her mouth.]
...I do hope you're able to get a favorable answer. But thank you for passing this much along. I am a touch surprised that you'd trust me, of all people, with such a thing...
But I won't let it go to waste.
no subject
[It's teasing, but not a joke.]
Besides, it's good to make sure someone knows in case something happens to me, ja? Incidentally, the book can be found with all of the other junk I've gotten from that vending machine, should I end up dying.
[It's a very good hiding place, no one would go through all that junk.]
Not that I foresee anything dreadful happening to me any time soon, but better to be safe than sorry, ja?
