(too late) you're at the party
[Well, it's safe to say that trial fucking sucked. Therefore, some sort of afterparty is in order. Constantine is admittedly not good at throwing parties without some sort of liquor or other drug involved, but that's where Data and Sylvando guide him.
First order of business--invites. Upon returning to your rooms, crumpled pieces of paper have been taped to the doors. Written in poor handwriting is the following:]
meet at the lounge
bring whatever you want
[Simple, but effective. The lounge itself has been livened up a bit with Sylvando's help. Some nicely patterned fabric has been draped around on the tables to liven up the place a little, and snacks from the café and vending machines have been placed out for people to peruse.
A few supplies from the first aid room have been gathered, as well, for those who may need it. But perhaps the help is unnecessary, as tomorrow will likely bring another New Years Eve. And with it, another week of despair and frustration.
But for now, they can forget about that and pretend that all that matters is the present.]

don't you want to go ape shit
Anyway, she turns and just gives him a look, before going back to throwing whatever she's got in hand over. ]
Maybe later.
[ It'd probably be a little awkward for her to carry on her own. Not to mention trying to get it over the ledge................. she's like two feet tall, what do you expect her to do? ]

Still, he can't help but feel a pang of worry at that 'maybe later'. He's taking it as a serious sign Alice really is not taking anything well at all right now]
Right.
[...this is a biiit like walking on eggshells. One wrong move and he'll ruin it and just make things worse. Come on, Fiddlepie, think things before saying them.
...nope, he's still way over his head. Ugh...]
...I'm surprised you could keep your head high despite everything that was going on. That was...that was really something.
[He's pretty sure if he ever received even a quarter of the attention Alice and Decus got, he'd fold. It's what happens when you're way too softhearted for a place such as a murdercruise. It'll be a miracle if he stays alive until there's only a few people left]

To be fair, I'm surprised none of that came up sooner. I guess I should be glad that it's out of the way.
[ She gets the feeling that even without that comically awful timing of Decus getting food poisoning, she still would have gotten some heat with the multiple vests in that lazer tag room or anyway. Oh well. ]
no subject
No guarantees it won't come up again, though.
[He hates to say it, but yeah]
I hope it won't, but there's always a chance it will. It's not fair, but it's not like this ship is all about fairness, anyway...

[ She sighs, chucking another piece of whatever overboard. ]
On the contrary, I'd actually say it's plenty fair. People should be making the most of what they have available to them. I would do the same exact thing if given the opportunity.
[ Doesn't mean she can't be pissed about it, though. ]

I...I guess you're not wrong? I dunno, I just can't seem to think in the same ruthless way you do. Not a surprise at all, is it? But it just has proved we're not very good at...you know, not focusing only on someone shady for no reason? It could have happened with Magica if Shard had tried harder, and now it happened with you and Decus. We can't just keep blaming someone shady and grilling them until it doesn't go anywhere...
...well, when they're not guilty, at least.
[Because seriously, if things had gone differently when pressing Alice and Decus, everyone would be dead. He can see that clearly enough, and it's terrifying]

You think I'm shady? Filbie, you're going to hurt my feelings if you keep talking like that.
[ pouts!!! ]
Besides, I was trying to help before everyone started point their fingers at me. [ and Decus, too, she guesses ] That's not something that I can take laying down, you know? If they're going to do it to me, why wouldn't I do it to them?
[ She... has a habit of forming grudges, a lot of the time. ]
no subject
[Well, she says it's fair enough to do that to each other. He still doesn't see it that way, but eh.]
All I hope is that whatever you choose to do it won't end in all of our deaths. You already said you don't care about any of us, I get that, but it'd be great if we don't all die while you escape.
[Especially since that trial probably made her even less willing to think of their lives as something worthwhile]

[ That motive could be too good. It could just be a matter of the right place and the right time. It's hard to say what'll happen in the future. ]
For now, I'm fine with working sort of together to figure things out. [ looks at tuesday and sweats ] But things might change. Who knows? Even you might actually kill someone. Maybe even on purpose.
no subject
[He sounds a bit in disbelief. He's not ruling out the possibility he'll cause someone's death if, say, he's told to drive the ship and he crashes into the kraken or something, but he really wonders if Alice thinks he'd be capable of killing on purpose. He knows fully well he couldn't]

[Well she's not wrong -- it's about what your limits are and how much you're willing to take. He's...not willing to take lives to go past those limits. Absolutely not]
But now that he has shown he doesn't care about anything except the deaths, I'm not willing to let him push me around with whatever he'll threaten us next. He's--He's gonna lie and say whatever he can to get someone to die. He's not worth the time.
M-Maybe it's some sort of weird denial, but it just...feels like there's no point in listening to someone who probably's gonna backstab you because he feels like it. For all we know he fulfilled his threats even though someone died. I wouldn't put that past him.

[ That gets her to pause for a moment! It doesn't last long, though, as she breaks out into a fit of giggles. ]
That's a good point, Filbie! He gave us those memories back, at least, but you're right. There's no real way to be able to take him at his word, beyond immediate action.
