(too late) you're at the party
[Well, it's safe to say that trial fucking sucked. Therefore, some sort of afterparty is in order. Constantine is admittedly not good at throwing parties without some sort of liquor or other drug involved, but that's where Data and Sylvando guide him.
First order of business--invites. Upon returning to your rooms, crumpled pieces of paper have been taped to the doors. Written in poor handwriting is the following:]
meet at the lounge
bring whatever you want
[Simple, but effective. The lounge itself has been livened up a bit with Sylvando's help. Some nicely patterned fabric has been draped around on the tables to liven up the place a little, and snacks from the café and vending machines have been placed out for people to peruse.
A few supplies from the first aid room have been gathered, as well, for those who may need it. But perhaps the help is unnecessary, as tomorrow will likely bring another New Years Eve. And with it, another week of despair and frustration.
But for now, they can forget about that and pretend that all that matters is the present.]

[It's pretty clear the Captain is completely unbearable, in addition to being cruel. Being near him must be exhausting]

[And really, that's as good as it gets. Filbo doesn't dare to hope Davy Jones will help, but as long as he doesn't go and throw them all to the kraken then he considers that a win]
We're already doing better than the Captain.

[It seems he only wants to use the kraken when the Captain wants so there's that. It's not much but...]
From my experiences such contracts can be quite finicky... It works better if both parties trust each other. I think it's clear that's not the case.

[And of course Davy Jones definitely isn't the kind of person that gets cajoled with just a few friendly words. Chances are he'll never truly be on everyone else's side. 'Neutral' may fit better? Well, neutral is good enough]
Really? You have seen a lot of contracts before?
[Filbo is taking 'contracts' as the most mundane definition, really. The thought Reika may have seen mythological figures and people associating with each other doesn't even cross his head]

Well, I had a similar contract before coming here. I never would mistreat her like the Captain does to Davy, though.

Really? Is she a famous spirit of the sea too?
no subject
[This is going to be an awkward conversation!]
Well, infamous, really... Most of the spirits that were likely to be summoned were heroes of great renown. My daughter--well. Have you ever heard of Jack the Ripper?

[An infamous killer from about a hundred years ago. That's not at all what Filbo expected. For a moment he just can only stare away, trying to process the news. Okaaaaaay...]
...w-well, we all have skeletons in our closets!
[And this Jack the Ripper clearly has a metric ton of them, possibly literal, he figures. Good grief]
I'm...sure you know what you're doing, but you can stay safe, right? It's not that I think you'll die once you go back! But--But I'm sure you understand it's a little worrying to know about this.
[Seems like Reika's safety was the first thing he got concerned about]

It's alright, Jack and I have a very good relationship. She's my dear daughter, after all. She wouldn't hurt me. [She might die if she goes back but it's definitely not by Jack's hands.] I know it's worrying to find out about her identity but I trust her completely. She's just a child, after all.

If you say so. I-I knew you had a child because your profile said it, but I never thought this was how it was like. When it's about you all nothing is like it seems at first glance.
[Whether it's about what they do, circumstances, or where they live. How did the Captain get such a bizarre bunch of people, Filbo included? He sure struck jackpot here]
