(too late) you're at the party
[Well, it's safe to say that trial fucking sucked. Therefore, some sort of afterparty is in order. Constantine is admittedly not good at throwing parties without some sort of liquor or other drug involved, but that's where Data and Sylvando guide him.
First order of business--invites. Upon returning to your rooms, crumpled pieces of paper have been taped to the doors. Written in poor handwriting is the following:]
meet at the lounge
bring whatever you want
[Simple, but effective. The lounge itself has been livened up a bit with Sylvando's help. Some nicely patterned fabric has been draped around on the tables to liven up the place a little, and snacks from the café and vending machines have been placed out for people to peruse.
A few supplies from the first aid room have been gathered, as well, for those who may need it. But perhaps the help is unnecessary, as tomorrow will likely bring another New Years Eve. And with it, another week of despair and frustration.
But for now, they can forget about that and pretend that all that matters is the present.]

No, of course not.
It's just...
[...]
We've been through two of these, and neither of them have really been intentional acts. We've sent people to their deaths because of technicalities. All for some kidnapper's entertainment.

Sudden deaths that came and went for no rhyme or reason, accidental deaths, deaths borne from negligence...so for him, it didn't hit as hard. Though it was aggravating all the same.
The Captain had still been getting away with it, after all. ]
And he will keep doing so until he's lying in a pool of his own blood.
Don't let the fact that he's utilizing underhanded means to get what he desires demotivate you. The moment we give into the idea we'll always be powerless is when we've lost. And it's easy to tell he's become arrogant in his success; I've seen what happens to men like him who look down on their enemies as only powerless toys. Pride goes before the fall.

What do you think of what he said to Jones, that whole "I own you" thing?
[He hadn't had time to think about it in the moment, but...]

Though, the question the man asked warranted enough attention. ]
It's clear that he's under his control enough that the man may as well be considered to be his possession.
Though, it's also not uncommon for those indebted to unsavory individuals to have their lives essentially temporarily or permanently 'owned' by their debtors. In the end, it's hard to know for sure the circumstances that lead to Davy Jones' powerlessness unless that information is provided to us.
[ At least in the dark side of the world. ]
What made you ask?

I'd say it makes it pretty clear Jones is working under duress, don't you? There's not a lot of room for other opinions.

We just need a way to separate him from the Captain's grasp and figuring out what he's using to control him. And of course, ensure that for whatever reason he doesn't turn against us.
[ Risotto would like to have Davy Jones as an ally, he's just wary. ]

Course, if that is the case, the question is how to break that contract.

We'd just need to find and exploit a vulnerability in it that would weaken or disable it so that it is completely ineffective.

I don't know how we'd go about doing something like that... it's a little outside of my range of knowledge.
