it is a funeral.
[Well. That was certainly something.
Emotions are clearly high, so for once, Data steps out of his helper role and takes on the brunt of organizing the after-trial gathering. He's seen enough of them by now to know what's what. He's also seen more than enough in this particular trial to decide that the bar, while possibly being the most logical location, may be distressing to some! So instead, we're gonna do something different. Data will deliver invitations, that sort of look like a computer printed them, to each of the rooms:]
Please come to the ice cream parlor if you would like company at this time.

[Everybody likes ice cream!
There are no decorations, but there are some snack selections from the buffet and the cafe, depending on what you want, and a tray or two of mixed drinks courtesy of Jimmy Buffett. Data and Parker are both here. If you're sad, you may pet Parker (probably). If you're too depressed to make your own fancy sundae, Data will do it for you (definitely).]

I once planned a celebratory funeral for a dear friend, Geordi. He enjoyed it. I am sure Sylvando would have as well...but it did not quite seem quite appropriate after everything else that occurred.
[also like it's only...sort of a funeral? Unclear.]

My apologies, this wasn't meant to be a critique on the gathering. I'm sure it went well.
[Nothing against it at all, just not the sort of place he wanted to be at the moment. You know how it goes, right??]
I do agree that going as big and loud as Sylvando would have wanted it would be a bit... much right now. But the thought certainly counts!

[He gets it! The point of the gatherings is more about providing comfort to those who want it, not really about being a hoppin' party.]
I had considered playing music, but I was not certain. I am aware that Decus was likely the last to use the karaoke machine. [For, well, the usual.]

I suppose we could. Is that something people would enjoy?

Very well. I will do so. [.....] I do hope the next motive is less distressing.

[But that... yeah...]
As do I. We've had some really difficult ones... I would say "hopefully he'll run out of ideas" but I'm not sure if that would be better or worse at this point.

[TO SAY THE LEAST]

[Oh! Right! He found a thing!!! He sort of forgot about it in all of this.]
Incidentally, does "calypso" mean anything to you? I think it might be a password to something, but I'm not sure where it would go.

Calypso is a figure in ancient Earth mythology - Greek, specifically. She was a nymph who kept the hero Odysseus trapped on her island for several years. She wanted him to become her husband, but he wished to return home to his wife.
From the ancient Greek, her name means "concealing the knowledge". An interesting choice of password.

I see! I found a puzzle and that was the solution, so admittedly it could refer to something else. There wasn't any indication of what exactly I was solving for. Oh, the puzzle was in the snow room; I set the temperature lower and it appeared on one of the walls, though I'm not sure what it was doing there.

[And with that he pulls a notebook out of his jacket pocket! Here you go! Yeager's notes are all very neat and tidy, and contain all the verses written out along with his notes while he was trying to figure out what the second set of numbers indicated.
So yeah, Yeager absolutely spent all of Thursday reading the Bible, but sadly finding religion did not help us.]

The nautical theme is relevant to Calypso as well as our general situation - the Odyssey is a seafaring tale, and Calypso an ocean spirit of sorts. This seems more like something Mr. Jones would have created.
[look handsome jack does not come across as particularly cultured]

[A joke, in other words - so hiding it like this probably wouldn't have happened in the first place.]
Mr. Jones is an excellent option. I think I'll pay him a visit and see if he can shed some light on this. I doubt he'll be able to tell me if he's trying to help us... but I know he would really like to no longer be stuck serving the Captain as well.
[If it's not directly going against the Captain then it should be fine, right?? Not that Yeager has ever done this for anyone he's been forced to work for, nope!!!]
