it is a funeral.
[Well. That was certainly something.
Emotions are clearly high, so for once, Data steps out of his helper role and takes on the brunt of organizing the after-trial gathering. He's seen enough of them by now to know what's what. He's also seen more than enough in this particular trial to decide that the bar, while possibly being the most logical location, may be distressing to some! So instead, we're gonna do something different. Data will deliver invitations, that sort of look like a computer printed them, to each of the rooms:]
Please come to the ice cream parlor if you would like company at this time.

There are no decorations, but there are some snack selections from the buffet and the cafe, depending on what you want, and a tray or two of mixed drinks courtesy of Jimmy Buffett. Data and Parker are both here. If you're sad, you may pet Parker (probably). If you're too depressed to make your own fancy sundae, Data will do it for you (definitely).]

She shouldn't have bothered. That's how people are. But it still hurt; that was surprising to her. It takes her a while to notice him then she looks up and there's a hint of a smile but it's not sincere.]

[Filbo shakes his head. Oh grump, did he make her feel unwelcome? He thinks back to all his words, but comes up with nothing. Did he sound like he wanted her gone? Darn...]
Sorry, sorry, I didn't--I hope I didn't sound like I was telling you to go away.

...I have never been good at these things. I just saw you there, and I thought I should come and check on you. Because it felt right. Especially since, well...Alice...was your roommate. I couldn't just not come see you knowing she was gone because I know if Jasper was gone I'd want someone to at least ask if I'd be okay. So that's why I'm here, I wanted to see if...you would be fine from here on.
[Somehow he feels far more awkward saying all this to Reika than to anyone else. Maybe it's because he's at best passing acquaintances with Reika]

[God knows she's full of secrets and saying her daughter is a serial killer and she helped probably didn't help. At least Filbo knew the first part.]

[She pauses. Then nods.]
Thank you. She... was difficult at the best of times but she was, well. Full of life, I want to say. It wasn't boring sharing a room with her. She even tried throwing out all of my things once. [She laughs to herself.] She might have been cruel but she was my roommate. I don't think I would have traded her.

[Come on, Filbo, she was clutching the knife in case you smacked her with a freaking flaming spear, stop acting like she jumped from the shadows all menacing]
Since the first time I met her she was pretty rude but at the same time I just kept talking to her because, uh...I dunno why. I just felt like it. Because even though I'm sure I was little more than amusement to her, I guess I could admire she wasn't trying to hide who she was? And also she called me Filbie, that was--I'm sure that meant she really looked down on me.
[Well, more like he kept talking to Alice because even though he didn't like her too much and he knew Alice cared nothing about him, they were in the same situation. He couldn't just ignore her, even though every conversation involved him playing along with her abrasive attitude]
...I think I'll miss her.

There's a sort of honesty about those sorts of people. It's refreshing sometimes but at others... I found she lacked subtly and prudence. Even if I tried to be a fair roommate to her I was just a 'human' to her.

[He said that to both Alice and Decus, hah. Five and four days later respectively, well, this whole thing happened. Eric and Pom probably were a little amused Filbo was saying that stuff while they were planning the details of Sylvando's murder, hah!]

[Oh well. No point in holding regrets. Unlike Freyja, who was still reachable despite her loud threat during that meeting, it was guaranteed Alice wouldn't ever change her mind. He knows that much]
...I guess there's Magica left? She also isn't gonna pretend she wants to get along with anyone. But somehow, I have even less hope she won't act someday.
[Yeeeeeeah, if Magica lives to endgame Filbo will be so surprised]

Yet I also think we can't be too cautious, either. The Captain may decide to set up an accident.

He would do that. He started making threats and offers because we spent a week doing well, if nobody kills after he tries to give a motive he would try to force us to go into the trial room to vote for someone even if they're innocent. All he wants is death.
[A rigged trial, in other words. Would just refusing to play along be enough to turn the tides on their favor? He's...not very sure]
