'Japan' still exists, as one of many areas Britannia has conquered and colonized. It's where we're based, and many of the Knights themselves are Japanese.

We are, yes. Most of them seek to reclaim their homeland at the very minimum before dismantling Britannia itself, and I would gladly see the entire empire reduced to ashes.
