it is a funeral.
[Well. That was certainly something.
Emotions are clearly high, so for once, Data steps out of his helper role and takes on the brunt of organizing the after-trial gathering. He's seen enough of them by now to know what's what. He's also seen more than enough in this particular trial to decide that the bar, while possibly being the most logical location, may be distressing to some! So instead, we're gonna do something different. Data will deliver invitations, that sort of look like a computer printed them, to each of the rooms:]
Please come to the ice cream parlor if you would like company at this time.

There are no decorations, but there are some snack selections from the buffet and the cafe, depending on what you want, and a tray or two of mixed drinks courtesy of Jimmy Buffett. Data and Parker are both here. If you're sad, you may pet Parker (probably). If you're too depressed to make your own fancy sundae, Data will do it for you (definitely).]

[ Unfortunately, whether Magica recognizes this or not, which is anyone's guess, Alice is the first person to die who she actually kind of wanted to stick around for a bit! She was fun, and even if Reika's a serial killer with no regard for human life she lacks a certain "I think I will cause problems on purpose" je ne sais quoi that her roommate had in spades. Maybe that's why her followup is: ]
Don't take this for me being sentimental, or whatever. There are other realms than this, astral planes and dark dimensions that exist right atop the everyday lives of the most mundane simpletons the universe has to offer. The Captain stealing our powers doesn't necessarily mean we've lost all chance of contacting the other side.

How do you think we'd be able to access something like that here, though?
[ He should probably register this as a bad idea, but it's not like he hasn't been putting his faith in mystical charms and things up until now, and ill-advised as it may be, he trusts Magica's knowledge about this sort of thing.
Alice had been willing to make a pact with a demon for him, and he'd always said he'd gladly sell his soul to the devil for her. So if there's really a chance of saving her with something like that... he's more than ready to make good on that promise and work with whatever dark forces he needs to. ]

[ If there is one emotional beat Magica can hit purposefully, it's "manipulating the emotionally distressed", but usually she's also the direct cause of that distress? Weird. ]
But think about it for a second. Is magic, in itself, absent from this boat?

He nods slowly. He was always just an end user when it came to occult stuff, and he didn't really know how any of it worked when there wasn't an instruction manual. Magica knows a lot more about these things than he does. ]
