it is a funeral.
[Well. That was certainly something.
Emotions are clearly high, so for once, Data steps out of his helper role and takes on the brunt of organizing the after-trial gathering. He's seen enough of them by now to know what's what. He's also seen more than enough in this particular trial to decide that the bar, while possibly being the most logical location, may be distressing to some! So instead, we're gonna do something different. Data will deliver invitations, that sort of look like a computer printed them, to each of the rooms:]
Please come to the ice cream parlor if you would like company at this time.

There are no decorations, but there are some snack selections from the buffet and the cafe, depending on what you want, and a tray or two of mixed drinks courtesy of Jimmy Buffett. Data and Parker are both here. If you're sad, you may pet Parker (probably). If you're too depressed to make your own fancy sundae, Data will do it for you (definitely).]

[Just...let her dust herself off here, Filbo, but once she's got the snow off she'll gladly follow his lead. She's still not in the greatest shape by the time they get there, but she'll at least probably plop herself down on a chair and just...

...I'm sure you understand how things went wasn't...ideal. Not by a long shot.
[Uf, he said it: he doesn't approve. Still, there was nothing sharp about that. He sees Plumeria hurting and he can't bring himself to put any force to his words. No wonder later he'd ask Yeager to support Plumeria since he thought Yeager probably wouldn't be as soft as him when it was necessary]
But what's done is done. You shouldn't apologize to me. Probably once you apologize to Lady Freyja it won't all be smoothed over, but at least it'll be a start.

I know. I mostly wanted to apologize to you because I...essentially lied to you. About the situation being handled.

I do intend to apologize to Lady Freyja, however; you can be assured of that. And whatever punishment she seems fit for this betrayal is one I'll take. I don't expect to be forgiven for this slight, and I have no intention of making excuses. But...she deserves that much, yes.

[Part of him wonders if he should have insisted more with his proposal about keeping them three together for that night. Would it have prevented Plumeria from taking such boneheaded approaches? Would it have truly stopped Freyja? Would...it really have done anything of use?
Probably not. For all he knows it would have ended in his own death if things had gone very wrong]
I could try to talk to her beforehand. I'm planning to see her later because I said no matter what happened I'd go talk to her, so maybe I could try and try to convince her to at least listen to you. I'm not promising anything, but I'm willing to try.
[He's saying that only because that particular thread already happened in this afterparty -- so I guess even if Plumeria says no he went ahead and did it anyway, way to go, Filbo]

[It just feels wrong to lie to a friend??? Ugh, that just makes Plumeria frustrated, honestly. She's never been particularly good at this, and she's...really just trying to accept responsibility for her actions. She's bad at putting this kind of stuff to words.]
You don't have to. Whatever happens when I speak to her tomorrow is just... [...] Look, don't worry about it. You can do as you like, but you don't have to do so on my account. If she doesn't want to listen, that's her own decision, and she's justified in it.

Welp, he's clueless]
You know, uh...a week ago I was pretty down about it all. Then Flayn came and, well...she offered me a hug. I dunno if I was looking so resigned she thought I needed one, but in the end I think it helped. I hadn't realized how much I needed to feel someone was willing to be there when I needed it. It made that feeling seem so real, like it finally meant I could rely on somebody else, just...I dunno how to even describe it.
So I dunno if it's gonna help you, but I suppose I can give you a hug if you wanna.
[If he's at a loss of words may as well draw from personal experience and see if that helps at all, he thinks. If Plumeria says yes then great, maybe a hug does help. And if she says no then great, she doesn't need one]

[Literally the only reason he sees not to is because of the wings, but that can be worked around. Well, that and how tense she got. Is she tense because he offered? Or because of the hundred other reasons to be tense right now? He can't...tell for sure.

...well, backing down now would be kind of cruel, he thinks. He has to go through with it and do his best.
It's a little clumsy, as if he's trying to hold her, but it's rather warm. Not only because of all the fur that presumably would keep anyone fluffy all cozy, but because he's trying to make things better. He's rather lost about how to do it, but he's trying]
Everything is so horrible right now. Honestly I...I wanted to go and hide somewhere for the rest of the night. But it's hard to handle your problems alone, you know? S-So instead I decided to find everyone and at least...try to be there for them. And that includes you.
Nothing is fine right now, but maybe once things cool down a little Lady Freyja can be there until it's fine, that's what I hope. And if you need someone else as well, I'll do all I can to be there too. Can you keep holding on? Until...until everything gets better?

...It is actually kind of nice. Warm, really, in a way that Plumeria feels like she should have expected. She shudders a bit, really; such warmth isn't what she's used to. And yet, while it takes a few seconds, Plumeria winds up wrapping her arms around Filbo in kind. It's still an awkward hug, but...]
...Yeah. You're not alone in that regard, just...wanting to hide somewhere.
