FIFTH INVESTIGATION

Friday morning dawns like any other. There's no sharp indicator whether or not you've all managed to avoid this motive - nothing missing returned, or anything like that. You still have the photos of the Ideal Futures that Jack gave you. The hallway outside your rooms is again clear of bodies. The air is still, the ship quiet.

Still, you can't help the feeling that, well... why would this Friday be any different? You've been in this cycle for over a month now, after all. But... only one way to find out!

[ Well, there's a lot going on, she's been wounded in several places on her body. There's something partially covering it, but that stomach wound in particular looks Rough. ]

[Let's just move that aside, then...what is covering it?]

[ Looks like a bunched-up piece of floral fabric. ]

[Does it look like it may have been used to stem the bleeding?]

[ That seems reasonable, yes! ]

[Are Plumeria's hands bloody, and/or positioned like she did that herself?]

[ Actually, interesting thing about her hands and general positioning! Her hands aren't out of position to have done that, and there's definitely blood on them, but her upper body looks like it was repositioned at some point. ]

[Huh! In what way?]

[ It may have been laid back? ]

[Hm...

Okay, let's return to that stomach wound. What sort of wound is it? Can we tell what may have caused it?]

[ It looks like a horizontal slash with a blade. ]

[Does it look like it's from a vending machine knife, maybe?

Also, is that the only wound?]

[ Not quite, looks like something more serious than that.

There are a couple other wounds on her as well! Firstly, her left wing has been heavily torn up. ]

[Oh, ouch. Is it possible to tell what might have caused that? Also, do they look...like they'd be easy to tear, I guess...? Data's not gonna try it and see because we're not ungodly here.]

[ It's... almost as if multiple blades tore into it at once? It's not pretty at all, and though it seems sort of fragile, it would definitely take some force to do this. ]

[Yikes.

Is there any corresponding damage to her back or shoulders that could indicate the direction the attack may have come from?]

[ Nope, not really. There is a pretty big bruise on her left side, starting at her left leg, but other than that there are just sort of. General wounds. And a couple other things, but we'll get there. ]

I feel like we briefly covered her hands earlier, but she isn't holding anything, right?]

[ Nah. There's some blood on them, but that's it. Though aside from the blood... wow, her skin is pretty reddened, huh? ]

[Weird. Does it look like some kind of reaction? Data, not having skin that responds to irritants anyway, will touch the area curiously.]

[ It could be! It's not the only thing that's strange - there's also some pink, frothy discharge around her mouth. ]

[boy that sure sounds like something that the super smart robot who loves murder mystery novels should know about! unfortunately, I don't, so

[ Unfortunately, this is a "the tricorder isn't giving you much" episode. It's also worth noting that the discharge smells sweet - and for clarification after a quick double-check, the reddened skin is a deep flushing, not a rash! ]

[ If he doesn't, we can just say the tricorder was able to pick up on that much, it's fine. ]
