Welp We're Here and That's What Matters

Because everything on this ship is awful, I think a drink is needed. Come get some at the bar, it'll do you some good as long as you don't drink too much

[Indeed, if you come to the bar you'll find there's one of everything. Filbo seems to have asked literally every drink he knows or has at least heard about, and lined them up from the most mellow to the strongest. There's one of each, so it's limited, take yours before it's gone! Or...ask Jimmy Buffett for more, he's right there.

Should he be encouraging drinking? He's not completely certain, but he had to do something! And this is as good as anything -- not festive because this is no time to be festive, but also social enough to encourage coming.

I wanted to, it is no trouble.

[Also yeah, you ought to have something in your stomach if you're going to be drinking, even Flayn knows that.]

And...sometimes, it is nice to have sweet things when you are sad. I am not certain why it helps, but it does.

I think it's something about the sugar. It's harder to feel sad when you have something sweet.

[That probably isn't how it works, but hey, not everything needs to have some complicated reason behind it. Sometimes things just help and that's it, he figures]

Maybe instead of all these drinks I should have gotten a lot of something sweeter, but I dunno, the sweeter stuff I could think were, you know, ice cream. I figured some of us wouldn't wanna anything from over there.

[That and he wasn't in mood of something like that. Despite looking like he's doing well and he isn't repressing anything -- thankfully he has stopped poisoning his own heart by repressing the things he felt in this murdercruise -- that this is a liquor gathering instead of something cheerier definitely is a sign of his own mood]

That is true. I still made sure not to include any of the "froyo" for that specific reason.

[Also, the charcoal stuff was always. Weird? To Flayn? She knows it can be used to combat poisons and things but also why would you willingly eat it? And knowing her, she'd make a mess if she tried using the froyo machines.]

...After you went through all of this trouble for us, I shall have to try at least one drink. Do not worry, I will be responsible.

You don't have to force yourself if you don't really wanna drink, you know.

[Boy has he seen in this very ship the results of someone going a little too hard with the booze. If Flayn doesn't drink often and is one hell of a lightweight that will be quite a mess, he thinks, hah]

It is alright, I have had wine before. And I will put juice in it, and eat food, so I should be fine.

[This isn't "I'm going to get pissed within the hour" drinking.]

Good. The other night I found John almost passed out in the lazy river, and that was...not a great moment. If he comes I'm gonna have to keep an eye on him. It makes me feel like I'm babysitting him, but somebody's gotta do it.

I promise I shall not drink that much, but...should I keep an eye on Mister Constantine as well? You cannot be expected to watch over everyone all the time.

I dunno...it's my job as the host to make sure those who come to anything I host have a decent time. Maybe you should try to focus on relaxing a little, one way or another. Today was once another tough day, you know. Don't overwhelm yourself.

[Ah...yeah, Filbo probably would like to do that, honestly. It'd keep him occupied.]

That'd be good! I...honestly I worry about John. He's far more caring than he lets show. He's trying so hard and it just--I think he'd handle things better if we all try to connect with him a little more.

[Filbo seriously sympathizes with John because just like Filbo, John also has been feeling so guilty about not having been able to do enough to stop all these deaths. Birds of a feather, you know]

So if you can talk to him and just make sure he knows he can count on many of us, it'd be great.

[At least Flayn knows her limits here, and isn't trying to beat herself up over, you know, not being able to use healing spells.]

I will be happy to do so. As difficult as things may continue to be, we cannot simply shut each other out. We must try to band together as well as we can.
