WEEK 8

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Your numbers have officially dropped to single digits. One of you managed to kill the first of the major living obstacles to your collective freedom. A ghost or demon or something nearly killed you. It was a weird week.

The cruise continues on, roller coaster back up and running as ever, arcade free and clear of coins. The last free floor of the ship is open, as well as part of the top deck with... well, something you might expect to see way more on a cruise ship than anything else here. One way or another, you get a feeling you can't shake - things are going to end soon.

No rain yet, but the clouds are closing in fast above you. A cold wind blows during the night, sending the ship gently rocking. Around midnight or so, if you head to the deck, you can hear thunder in the distance.

While that would be entertaining, I don't really have the know-how to make that happen...

[And he's not particularly interested in trying to open up the jukebox and figure out how to make it work.]

Well, I suppose I'll just have to deal with such horrible and blatantly untrue accusations tossed my way.

[Anyone trying to open it up probably would accidentally break it and it wouldn't get fixed until the next time loop -- which may be an unavoidable consequence if someone listens to this prank for a little too long anyway, hah. There's a non-zero chance someone smashes that jukebox]

At least most will take it in good stride! I mean, nobody's sour enough to take it badly other than Magica. Even Lelouch would at least tolerate it!

While it is conspicuously body-sized, there is no body inside! Mostly, it's just a lot of unlit candles. ]

"Lelouch"... is that his real name? Are we supposed to be calling him that now?

[Huh! Are the candles supposed to go around a body or is this just a cabinet full of candles... Anything weird about these candles, by the way? Because he is absolutely going to take some of his own coffin candles, there is no stopping him.]

I guess we are. I wasn't sure if it was meant to be a secret or not, but if he's freely reminding of that during the trial I guess he's leaving 'Zero' behind for now.

[If that's what Lelouch wants, then who is Filbo to say otherwise?]

[Character development is a hell of a thing, so that's fair...]

I'll have to ask him for the exact pronunciation.

[Despite how gleefully he butchers pronouncing most things, he does want to make sure he's not doing it accidentally!!]

It seems we still have a lot to learn about him, ja? Though I suppose that's true of all of us, at least to some extent.

I'd ask him too but, uh, I kinda am embarrassed I didn't catch it the first time. I'll figure it out once he says it again whenever I'm nearby.

[Filbo nods with enthusiasm]

We do! But he's opening up, so I guess he's getting more comfortable with us all. He even left some bread to have with the ice cream the other night, so...I guess even the most distant ones among us are starting to let the walls down a little.

[It's not perfect unity, really, but at least Filbo wouldn't say people are making nice anymore just for the sake of appearances, it's far more genuine nowadays]

That's true. In the end we're kinda limited in what we can do. It's not really something that should make anyone feel any better, honestly, but maybe the--the important part is to realize that and still keep doing what you can.

[Another day, another week, another new year, huh... and now it's looking really ominous out, isn't it? Welp. Jasper usually waits until trial day to fully armor up and carry his swords everywhere, but like. He's gonna walk around fully armored this week. That's just how it'll go.

So, he'll check out the new area like this, though he will... perhaps be a bit jumpy... it's fine. Ship's haunted, it's fine.

It was fine then, and it's fine now.

...

...So anyway, Jasper's going to spend a fair amount of time in the pub pouring himself a beer and playing darts. Shit, darts, an arcade, investigating... we're really Shenmue now, huh? He's not actually that interested in investigating this particular area, admittedly... but something that does strike his fancy is the photo lab! Because honestly, what the hell is this? It's really intriguing! He'll check and see if there are any interesting clues lying around... or if shit's haunted.

...It's probably haunted. But is there any sign of shit being haunted.

Anyway, at the end of the day, he heads up to check out the water park, which. Well. He's not gonna fuckin' mess around with that in full armor! So he's just going to head to the side of the ship and let his hair down and... you know... he'd prefer a warmer wind. But it's really nice to just let the wind blow through your hair every once in a while, and there's actually wind now...]

If we had any doubts before, they've hopefully been dispelled - it really is us against whatever's in charge here now. We really do need to be willing to work together, even if we don't all get along sometimes.

[It's not going to be easy, but it's not like we have much of a choice at this point.]

[ Nothing with them being unlit! Though moving them around a little will reveal some assorted magic drawings/runes underneath! Nothing recognizable, but like. They're there! ]

[Ooh, interesting! I'm assuming there's nothing else that can be done with them? He's not exactly a mage anyway, so magic runes don't really mean much to him. Anything else to note in this coffin or should he do the cursed thing of opening poor goddamn Sylvando's since it's right next to his.]

[ So! There's a table with a bunch of cameras, and the assorted darkroom facilities, where do you want to start? ]

So the good news is that Sylvando is not in this drawer. There are, however, a number of lit candles, which seem to be the source of the smell of the room.

In the middle of them, however, is a doll of Sylvando. ]

Anyway! What kind of doll are we talking here? Is this like the voodoo doll Jack had or is this something else?]
