WEEK 8

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Your numbers have officially dropped to single digits. One of you managed to kill the first of the major living obstacles to your collective freedom. A ghost or demon or something nearly killed you. It was a weird week.

The cruise continues on, roller coaster back up and running as ever, arcade free and clear of coins. The last free floor of the ship is open, as well as part of the top deck with... well, something you might expect to see way more on a cruise ship than anything else here. One way or another, you get a feeling you can't shake - things are going to end soon.

No rain yet, but the clouds are closing in fast above you. A cold wind blows during the night, sending the ship gently rocking. Around midnight or so, if you head to the deck, you can hear thunder in the distance.

[Sometime on Wednesday morning, a note gets place on everyone's doors--everyone who's still alive, that is. Although the handwriting is messy, there seems to have been an effort to at least make it readable.]

[Well. Looks like it's time again! When you arrive on the scene, Constantine is there, staring down at the floor, seemingly preoccupied. He looks up as soon as a few people begin to gather, shaking his head ever so slightly.]

Right. I called this meeting so we could maybe go over everythin' that we've learned so far. If you've got anything from the dead that might help us--notes, papers, what have you--put 'em forth. Might give us a better view of the whole situation, overall.

I am sorry - I have not found anything. But...I have been distracted.

[Flayn cethleann why is here, sort of tucked into a chair with why have you forsaken us Emily in her lap. Just Emily today, for ease of i died for you and this is how you repay me carrying things around.]

There is - um. There is something I had an idea about, though. It might be prudent if we- [She i have told you time and again not to reveal yourself rubs one of her ears, wincing, as if that might block out the noise.] -If we prepare ourselves to escape at a moment's notice. There are the vending machines that have various items within them that are not the special one that takes coins. I think one of the - mrgh, [you let me die you let them kill me you did not help me cethleann] I am sorry, um. I think one of the options is a large bag, so. That is a good option.

Nobody can blame you, Flayn. We've all been distracted the last day or so.

[For...obvious reasons. Constantine shakes his head, as if trying to dismiss whatever voices might be haunting him.]

I can gather whatever rations I've gotten from the vending machine, but it'll be good just to take stock of our supplies. It'll probably also be smart to gather whatever weapons we have in order to defend ourselves against other threats.

[Like. Sharks and stuff.]

[So if you can thing of any way she can do a thing, please let her know.]

...Then I shall pack weaponry as well. I was given a knife and two spears.

I-I have been trying to make bags? But, uh, they're kinda hard to make. If you guys get a lot of those bags from the machine it'd save so much trouble.

[Progress is slow, unfortunately, and it doesn't help he hasn't made them before. His sewing is decent, but this is hard]

The hard part is getting food that'll last a while. I mean, unless you're really into the military rations from the machine, and those aren't that great.

The cookies from the machines will not last?

[She's got like, some cookies, some of those sandwich crackers with peanut butter, some knockoff Goldfish crackers.]

... and the Kraken. Need I really remind you that we haven't a skiff to our name and a legendary sea monster is keeping pace with us as we speak?

[ While the pub investigation might eventually lead to pertinent information, it's totally IC for her to fuck around in the meantime, so Magica brings nothing but her ragged notebook and a nerf gun! She idly aims and occasionally fires the latter at one of her own Handsome Jack portraits, now tacked up to the wall behind the bar, throughout the meeting. ]

So — has anyone figured out what atlas he was talking about at the trial?

[Constantine frowns, cross his arms.]

I'm assuming it's got somethin' to do with the books in the library--but I'm not entirely sure. Didn't Filbo dig up a book a few weeks ago with a map of the Bermuda Triangle on it?

[Yeager's got some items with him today and he'll drop those down on a table before getting started. Thankfully, he isn't touching the jukebox today.]

If you've seen the new floor, you've likely come across a room that required a purple key to open. Freyja left me that, so it's open now if you want to see what's in there... but it's a bit morbid.

In the back wall, there's a section with twenty-six different drawers. If that sounds like coffins to you, then you're marginally correct! My own was full of unlit candles - these, specifically.

[Item #1 is indeed an unlit candle! There isn't anything particularly noteworthy about it, but he sure did take it anyway.]

Underneath the candles were some odd designs - magic runes and that sort of thing. I'm no mage, so I couldn't tell you anything more about that.

I opened Sylvando's coffin next to see what was inside, and you'll be pleased to know there are no bodies in there. This was in there, however.

[Item #2 is a Sylvando voodoo doll! It's a bit more detailed than a usual one would be. No, he saw nothing morbid or creepy about taking this and yes, Zaveid has probably seen this thing left out in their room with zero explanation.]

There were also lit candles in his coffin, and the same magical symbols, though these were glowing.

[It's also worth nothing - though Yeager didn't try this out - that attempting to blow out the candles or smudge the magical stuff will fail. It's always gonna be like that, for anyone morbid enough to go try it.]

I also examined the armory. It was at one point some sort of store? The shelving in there for the weapons is a bit odd, it's obvious the space wasn't exactly intended to be an armory to start with.

These are replicas of weapons one of my former subordinates uses. The armory likely has some familiar weapons for all of you as well.

[Items #3 and 4 are giant knives! They look like this (on the right). To an untrained eye, they probably look like perfectly serviceable (and stupid) jrpg weapons.]

They appear to be made with sub-par and mundane materials - or at the very least, these are. They really wouldn't hold up well in a fight, although the less unique weapons are at least passable.

There were some other weapons in there that seemed to be even worse off, though I'm not familiar with those weapons to begin with.

[Any kind of weapons with a supernatural component are complete failures, in other words! So if you've got any that would appear here, you can likely tell that much better than he can.]

Finally, I found this behind one of the shelves.

Oh, so all isn't just to tell us we're as good as dead? Alright...

[Filbo looks at the voodoo doll. That's...quite something! Wow, what a thing to be seeing]

I can't decide if taking these out of the coffins would hinder whatever ritual's happening or if it'd hurt the dead ones somehow...

[Well, if things depended from the dolls being left alone in one place maybe it wouldn't be in a relatively public place opened from a key somebody around here found]

Ha! Finally, something useful. [ She has already nyoomed on over and is definitely going to try and take the Sylvoodoo doll if not stopped, which means it's pretty redundant when she asks: ] Do you mind?

[Constantine seems to visibly perk up at that. The gears in his brain seem to be turning....]

Just to confirm--the lit candles were only in the drawers of those who were dead, correct?

I haven't... had any luck finding anything.

[Zaveid looks a lot more tense than usual, he's honestly been getting worse since the announcement yesterday.]

[He is more than aware that everything is not alright.]

[Lelouch trailed off, a hand pressed to his eyes.]

...haven't been investigating much this week. I don't have anything of worth this time.

S'alright. Seems like this week's incentive has gotten to a majority of us.

[Which is...understandable. Constantine pauses, looking down at the ground with an almost guilty expression.]

I found a film roll with photographs on it in the photo lab. Most of the photographs seem to be pictures of our not-so-dearly departed Captain Jack, so they ought to be fairly useful for use on the dart board.

However, I found one that was more interesting than the rest.

[He slides forward the Conspicuous Treasure Chest Looking Box.]

Given the design influences, I have to wonder if it is something that belongs to Davy Jones.

[Lelouch spent a while in the craft room after the meeting, calmly sewing together whatever garishly bright fabric was available into usable bags. Doing so almost a little too calmly, like he was consciously ignoring everything except the repeated motion of the needle in his hands.]

[It was getting worse, steadily so. Yesterday had been little more than a voice that might have been that of a friend calling out to him. Now it was not only clearer, but distinct words he had heard before. Words he'd chosen to forget, or at least not to think upon any longer.]

['Please, you can't! We may have different mothers, but you and I are still blood!']

[...At some point his hands had stilled, one violet and one scarlet eye coming back into focus to realize he'd stopped working. This was a bad situation--if it kept intensifying like this, Lelouch wasn't even sure himself what he might end up doing.]

[There had to be some way to drown it out or ignore it. So if the TV in the xtreme teen zone was a fair bit louder than usual, the reason was very likely due to the person sitting with his head in his hands trying and failing to think about literally anything else.]

Craft Room -- CW: Reference to Hallucinating

[Working in silence to do this stuff is not really how Filbo likes to do things, but it's necessary right now. Hearing familiar voices in your head is very distracting, especially when they're aiming at your heart. Even though he'd like to make conversation to make the task a little more pleasant, he has to focus or else he'd pay too much attention to the hallucinations.

That's probably why it takes him a moment to realize Lelouch had gone still. Filbo looks up from his work to see he had stopped, and then glances down to see that his own work wasn't faring too better -- instead of stopping he had lost focus and gone off-track, making a long curve of threads that would be a hell to remove from the fabric and were uniting nothing]

...m-maybe a break would be good for now. There's been progress! But, uh, it's hard to focus, isn't it?

[And there's still one day ahead. That's going to get even worse]

[He blinked a time or two as if trying to clear his head, attempting to register whatever Filbo had just said.]

[Now that the meeting's over and Yeager's lacking in distractions, he's wandering the boat looking for something to do to keep himself occupied. The music from the xtreme teen zone is louder than usual, so he pokes his head in and... oh man, you doing okay there, Zelouch...]

Zero— Wait, should I be calling you Lelouch now?

[......this isn't the distraction either of us were hoping for, but it's what we've got now, i guess.]
