WEEK 8

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Your numbers have officially dropped to single digits. One of you managed to kill the first of the major living obstacles to your collective freedom. A ghost or demon or something nearly killed you. It was a weird week.

The cruise continues on, roller coaster back up and running as ever, arcade free and clear of coins. The last free floor of the ship is open, as well as part of the top deck with... well, something you might expect to see way more on a cruise ship than anything else here. One way or another, you get a feeling you can't shake - things are going to end soon.

No rain yet, but the clouds are closing in fast above you. A cold wind blows during the night, sending the ship gently rocking. Around midnight or so, if you head to the deck, you can hear thunder in the distance.

[ It's another you, Yeager-

While it is conspicuously body-sized, there is no body inside! Mostly, it's just a lot of unlit candles. ]

[Huh! Are the candles supposed to go around a body or is this just a cabinet full of candles... Anything weird about these candles, by the way? Because he is absolutely going to take some of his own coffin candles, there is no stopping him.]

[ Nothing with them being unlit! Though moving them around a little will reveal some assorted magic drawings/runes underneath! Nothing recognizable, but like. They're there! ]

[Ooh, interesting! I'm assuming there's nothing else that can be done with them? He's not exactly a mage anyway, so magic runes don't really mean much to him. Anything else to note in this coffin or should he do the cursed thing of opening poor goddamn Sylvando's since it's right next to his.]

[ Nah, not really. This room is more about the other stuff. Speaking of!

So the good news is that Sylvando is not in this drawer. There are, however, a number of lit candles, which seem to be the source of the smell of the room.

In the middle of them, however, is a doll of Sylvando. ]

[i'm sure seto will be very glad that this isn't Actual Sylvando.......

Anyway! What kind of doll are we talking here? Is this like the voodoo doll Jack had or is this something else?]

[ Yeah, voodoo doll seems About Right, though maybe a little more accurate/with Attention To Detail than the average stereotypical Voodoo Doll? ]

[Huh... Well, you know what, he's going to do the totally sane thing and take it. Assuming this does not set off some sort of trap, are there the same magical runes in here?]

[ There are! But they are, as a note, glowing slightly. ]

[Oooh, spooky. The ones in his own coffin weren't, correct?

So... Just to make sure, he's going to go through and poke through the rest of the coffins. Any variation in any of them, or is it exactly as expected? The living people have empty coffins with unlit candles and the dead have fancy voodoo dolls?]

[ Correct!

And yep, that's about right. The only other note is that any attempt to blow out the candles or smudge the Magic Stuff in there will fail.

Now, how about that armory, Yeager? ]

[Huh! That's definitely weird... but he probably shouldn't mess with it more than that...

Anyway, yes!! Onto the armory, what's going on with the weapons here? Is there anything out of place or noteworthy for him to steal examine?]

[ Well, the weapons are largely just that: weapons. Like there are a lot of them, and they are very cool, and they are... actually, interesting note, there are some familiar ones in here, actually! ]

[Hopefully we aren't talking blastia bombs which are Yeager's specific brand of weapons bullshit, but what do we have here? Are there some familiar swords a certain protag might have been wielding at some point or something along those lines?]

[ Tragically no, we are not in the business of handing out blastia bombs. But there are some things along the latter line, yes! ... Well, upon even slight inspection they're mostly-passable replicas, I'll give you that for free on account of the. You know. Your Job, Yeager. ]

[He would absolutely be able to tell a real from a fake even if we are not dealing in horrible scythes that are also guns. I'm going to run with the assumption that we've got swords along the lines of this and not giant axes or scarves or bows that are also knives somehow since that's probably the safest bet here. Vesperia weapons are weird.

Anyway! Are these mostly-passable replicas still combat-worthy or are they just decoration?]

[ They appear to have been made with a mind towards combat? The normal swords are fine, not stellar but you know. Passable! There is an understanding here of what a sword is and how it functions.

Some of the more complex ones, like what the fellow on the right here has, the craftsmanship decreases significantly. ]

[Oh god, who was the poor sap in charge of recreating Zagi's stupid knives....... But huh! Is it decreased craftsmanship in terms of physical strength but a passable appearance, passable strength but boy does it look off, or are both just kind of a disaster?]

[ They're... if you didn't know your weapons very well, and you weren't a person who had had the pleasure of Zagi's company, you might think they were okay? But yeah, physically, you wouldn't get very far with these in a fight.

That might also have something to do with the clearly sub-par and mundane materials that the knives are made of. I'm no Zagi expert, but I'm betting he didn't buy those at the store, you know? ]

[Zagi cares about one thing and that one thing is murder, so yeah, he's pretty particular about his weapons... Definitely interesting though, and Yeager will hold onto these for the meeting!! Does this seem to be the same for all the weapons in here, or just the familiar ones?]

[ Just the familiar ones! And if anyone with friends of the appropriate tech level does poke in here, this is boldtext that there will be similar replicas.

The worst are any that involve any kind of supernatural component - those are just complete failures if they don't have otherwise useful sharp bits. ]

[Good to know! There aren't any of those here that Yeager would be all that familiar with, but I'll be sure to point this out in the meeting so someone else can figure it out!

Anything else to note about the weapons in here? Is there anything that looks remarkably out of place otherwise?]

[ That's it for the weapons. The shelving is a little weird - this room clearly didn't start as an armory - and there's something tucked behind one of the shelves. ]
