WEEK 8

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Your numbers have officially dropped to single digits. One of you managed to kill the first of the major living obstacles to your collective freedom. A ghost or demon or something nearly killed you. It was a weird week.

The cruise continues on, roller coaster back up and running as ever, arcade free and clear of coins. The last free floor of the ship is open, as well as part of the top deck with... well, something you might expect to see way more on a cruise ship than anything else here. One way or another, you get a feeling you can't shake - things are going to end soon.

No rain yet, but the clouds are closing in fast above you. A cold wind blows during the night, sending the ship gently rocking. Around midnight or so, if you head to the deck, you can hear thunder in the distance.

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to week 8, everyone! Remember to turn in AC here and coins for regains over here! If you wish to get in contact with the npcs, Davy Jones is over here, and "The Captain" is over here! And as requested, profiles are accessible here. ]

[Constantine frowns, cross his arms.]

I'm assuming it's got somethin' to do with the books in the library--but I'm not entirely sure. Didn't Filbo dig up a book a few weeks ago with a map of the Bermuda Triangle on it?
ahelpingpaw: (I got really hungry.)

I sure did! I'm pretty sure I can bring the book here again if we need it, but...it didn't really seem like anything that can't be found in any random library out there. You'd think an evil ghost's atlas would be more...unusual in nature? So it probably isn't it.

[Hmmmm...]

It had scribbles on it but nothing really written, so I thought maybe Jack made those, but it's not like you can compare a drawn triangle with his handwriting or something.

Well, the atlas he's referring to could just be the map... but as worthless an imbecile as Jack was, I doubt he'd chart a course and then just leave it in the stacks.

It might be in his office, then. But last I went, I didn't see any atlases that stuck out to me or were glowing with green fire.

Right, that. But how is it his? Was there anything in the book that wasn't standard?

... Before you say it, yes, I know you don't know either, I'm just annoyed.

...I mean, it could be the Atlas, but I doubt it. After all, Atlas was Calypso's father in Greek mythos, but...as far as I'm aware, he was still busy holdin' up the world.
cethflayn: (Oh! Truly?)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-03-17 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There is also a figure in myths named Atlas?
scouserer: (07)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-03-17 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
There is. But he was doomed to hold up the world for all eternity. Last I remember, he didn't have no green fire or anything.
cethflayn: (but i shall not forget the happy times)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-03-17 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Why was he doomed to do that, though?

[She wants to learn!]

Well, Atlas was a kind of god called a Titan, and ruled with his siblings over the world. When the younger Olympian gods like Zeus and Posiedon and the like overthrew the Titans, many of the surviving Titans were cast into the pits of Tartarus to prevent them from reforming. Atlas, however, was punished by Zeus to stand at the edge of the world and hold up the sky on his shoulders.

[Constantine shrugs.]

That's the gist of it, at least.
cethflayn: (do NOT)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-03-17 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tilts head slightly

All of this is kind of scary but also fascinating.]

Well...perhaps, if he is a special kind of god, he simply sent his spirit to inhabit Jack's body. A spirit can be omniprescent.

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-03-17 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Constantine shrugs.]

It seems like if this were Atlas--and I'm assumin' it's not--his beef would be with the Olympian gods. And we've not even seen evidence of their existence since arrival. It seems more likely that this bastard's a wayward ghost or demon who's got too much power on his hands.
cethflayn: (o_o ?)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-03-17 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps you are right. I do not know much about these other gods to really say for certain.

Hmm. I feel like the epithets would have mentioned if he had a really annoying laugh.

[ SAID THE BIGGEST OF ALL HYPOCRITES ]
scouserer: (02)

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-03-17 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd think, but who knows? Needless to say, I feel more confident in claiming that this bastard's a demon or ghost of some breed.

[personal profile] magycks 2021-03-17 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-huh, uh-huh. And what kind of person was he when he was alive, would you say?
scouserer: (04)

cw: swearing???

[personal profile] scouserer 2021-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Constantine thinks for a moment....]

A cunt.
cethflayn: (Oh that is so not good)

[personal profile] cethflayn 2021-03-18 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Flayn just sort of. Presses her mouth closed real tight and her eyes go wide in a kind of, "Oh, that's a bad word, uh oh" sort of expression.

Definitely not gonna say that one.]

Wow, in front of the children and everything, okay.
