Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[ Unlike Brett, Seo Dawon seems to be mulling over the options on the menu, turning over the order form in his hands. He looks over at the comment with a friendly smile. ]

A bribe's one option. [ A tilt of his head. ] Hey, you seeing double yet? Any weird pains in say your abdomen?

[inaclearing]

I haven't actually eaten yet.

[He replies dryly. Of course, he ate yesterday, but he didn't die overnight, so.]

We don't have any food or water they aren't providing us. Not even air, really. [It's an enclosed system, after all.] We're very reliant, here.

[buriedstar]

That's true, and they do want something from us. [ He might have been joking before, but it's an easy transition for him to discuss actual strategy. Go figure. ]

But it means that if we don't do like we're asked, there's a lot of options for punishment or encouragement.

[inaclearing]

[Brett grimaces. But it's a fair point. He glances up towards the corners of the room. He doesn't see any cameras, but that hardly means they aren't around. Again, though - even if they are, what can any of them do about it?]

How patient do you think they are...?

[buriedstar]

The voice or the girl? [ Names are for people who get his title correctly.]

[inaclearing]

I think he's the one calling the shots.

[Would Eleanor theoretically have the authority to call poison gas down upon them or something? Maybe! But let's not worry about it!]

[buriedstar]

Likely, but she's the figurehead her disposition matters too. [ No Seo Dawon is going to worry about it or rather consider it. He's a thorough kind of guy. ]

As for the matter of patience: he seems like the kind of guy who wants to see results. He'll probably allow some time for acclimation with this scenario, seeing as he hasn't pushed harder and provided beyond basic means. Maybe one to two weeks?

[inaclearing]

He'd know better than any of us how long it might take, I guess.

[For example: Brett knows that he's not going to snap and try to murder someone over this in a week or two. But does he know that for certain about anyone else? He'd like to think he does, but that's due to a general desire to think the best of people, rather than any actual personal knowledge. It's been a day.]

Eleanor didn't seem like she'd push it. I think this is more about what he wants, for her - she's just along for the ride.

[buriedstar]

Are you saying that because he "knows" us? Because of the profiles? Getting a read on your enemies is part of the basics.

[ This is somewhat of a sore spot, apparently so he's not considering the whole murder aspect in this moment. ]

She likely won't, though. Finding her motivation should be be a priority, considering.

[inaclearing]

He's obviously done his research. I think he must have a good sense of our general personalities - enough to give us all mean nicknames.

[Enough to know what would bother people in particular. Not that Brett is speaking from personal experience.]

She said it, didn't she? She feels loyal to him. She's young, it seems like she's been through some stuff...I don't think it would have been that difficult for him to get.

[NOT THAT HE'S SPEAKING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE]

I've been called worse things.

[ There's something tight in his expression despite the smile that goes along with it. "Mean" might not be the right descriptor, but yeah, mood. ]

Loyalty is earned. If it's really just that, that she's impressionable because she's naive, then this really shouldn't take too long at all.

[inaclearing]

Naive, or she just doesn't have anyone else.

[But maybe he's projecting a little bit.]

Exactly.

[ Honestly this conversation sounds terrible for Eleanor but Seo Dawon doesn't seem to mind it one bit. ]

And after that's handled, we'll get to see if the voice is anymore than just that. There's a reason he didn't meet us directly, whatever it is.

[inaclearing]

What...are you planning on doing, exactly?

[Your tone is a little weird, bud.]

[buriedstar]

[ Blink. ]

Be her friend. What did you think?

[inaclearing]

...I don't know. I guess you just phrased that a little oddly.

[But okay then!]

[buriedstar]

[ He crosses his arms, thinking. ]

Do you know what a guild master is?

[inaclearing]

I know what those words put together mean, but I feel like I'm missing some specific context.

[buriedstar]

It's probably close enough. That's what I am though, a guild master. I know how to talk with all kinds of people, and my guild, Red Lotus, was one created to take in the kinds of people no one else wanted to deal with. Loners, pariahs, criminals, you get the idea.

Either way, she's not the first lonely lost kid I've dealt with.

[ Maybe that sounds a little clinical, but it is spoken with some degree of care. ]

...that's good. I've - well, I've dealt with some recently, as...a journalist.

[From the way he says it? Only like, marginally in that capacity. At least towards the end.]

But it's not my realm of expertise.

[buriedstar]

You're a journalist? I've dealt with a lot of those too.

[ And paparazzi... ]

You have to be good listeners from what I've heard, and maybe that's what she needs. There's a few angles to work it from given our resources.

[inaclearing]

I'm a freelancer, but yeah.

[ha ha aren't they all]

I'm happy to talk to her. Seems like she could probably use it.

[buriedstar]

Let me know if you make progress. I'm sure there'll be no shortage of visitors given her demeanor and the situation, but I doubt they'll all hit it off with her.
