Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[ There are three items in the box:

- A small cloth bundle
- A bottle of nice liquor
- An audio recording tape ]

[Oh! Those first two items looks interesting! He's going to undo the cloth bundle before he deals with that mysterious third item.]

[ Carefully wrapped in the cloth is a red key! ]

[Oh neat! Jonathan's just going to pocket that away for later.

And for that third item... hm... he's just gently going to carry it as he gets up for help.]

Excuse me, does anyone know what this item is?

[ It's not the help you wanted Jonathan, but it is help(?) ]

Where'd you get that, a museum?

[He flinches noticeably when it's Seo who answers his call, and a part of him wants to just walk away. But... it would be rude to do so, and this man was as much of a prisoner that he was, so he shouldn't withhold what might be useful information from him.

That doesn't stop his voice from coming off more timid than intended, though.]

O-oh, I found this in a box hidden inside the pool room. I also found a red key with it as well. I have no idea what this item is but I feel like it must be relevant to something.

[He did not bring up the liquor because it doesn't seem important and he was planning on drinking some of it later.]

[ For his flinching, Jonathan receives one winning smile. It fades into a thoughtful expression when Seo Dawon hears the explanation at least. ]

It looks like a cassette, but it's a bit big. [ Though maybe cassettes really were supposed to be this size? He wouldn't know, he wasn't born yet. Hm.]

They play whatever's recorded on them when you insert them into a compatible device. [ ...he's going to start walking back to their suite, looking back over his shoulder once. Yes, he expects Jonathan to follow. ]

[Jonathan wordlessly follows along. Luckily he can easily deduce a look like that.

As they move back to the suite, he looks down at the cassette in his hands thoughtfully.]

I've heard something similar to this back home, but I wonder why the owner of this wouldn't destroy it if they didn't want it found.

[But he guesses he couldn't complain either. It could very well be a clue that will help them escape from this prison.

That might be the whole point, it could be a trap or a red herring. But doing nothing produces nothing. [ Honestly there's other measures he would normally take on a find like this, but he's a bit limited at the moment. ]

We're using the one in your room. [ He says as they enter the suite. ]

[He nods along, but that last part stops him.]

Huh...? Why can't we use your room?

[Not that he minds using his room, but it feels a little presumptuous in his eyes.]

[ It is more than a little presumptuous, but that's kind of the normal for Seo Dawon. ]

Finder's keepers, right? It wouldn't be fair to take your discovery from you. [ His smile is light but there is a definite undercurrent to his "generosity". ]

I suppose...

[He's still skeptical but it's not like he's giving him the key to his bedroom.

Jonathan awkwardly lets Seo into his bedroom. Luckily for Jonathan, there is really nothing of note, beyond there being some letters written in shorthand on his desk. It seems like Jonathan takes pride in making sure his bedroom looks presentable.

He hands the cassette to Seo.]

You seem to know how to use this better than I.

[ Seo Dawon gives Jonathan's room a cursory look around and then gets right to business, taking the cassette and popping it into the radio. ]

Well yeah, I know how to do a lot of things. Now, let's see just what was worth hiding. [ And he presses play. ]

[ The voice that plays is male, adult. ]

Well, one perk of being hotel groundskeeper? I get ta tuck stuff away for a rainy day. Figure if I have to hide this key for the Founders, might as well tuck something nice for myself in too. So if you ain't me and yer hearing this, put my stuff back!

Anyway, tomorrow's Mayor Fontaine's big New Years thing. He and the Founders are havin' that big shindig, and everyone else is supposed to tune in for some kinda announcement. Honestly, might skip it - it's all anyone's gonna be talkin' about for weeks anyway, whatever it is. So many people here worship the ground the Founders walk on, but I've never seen the appeal. They're just people. One of 'em's even- ah, whatever. They get touchy when you start specifying, and I ain't fool enough to let anyone catch a recording of me talkin' shit. I'm gettin' paid a pretty penny by Fontaine himself just ta know where this box is. Easiest money I've ever made.

How peculiar...

[He pulls the red key out of his pocket as he listens, flipping it over in his hand.]

Assuming this isn't leading us on a wild goose chase, this must be something important to Mayor Fontaine. We have to make sure he doesn't realize we found it.

Seems that way. Odd that he left it here, though. Even if he can't come here himself, he has Eleanor.

[ Hm. ]

More than that, why wouldn't he keep it for himself? If it was that important to him, why entrust it to someone else to hide it?

[He puts a hand on his chin in thought.]

Holding it yourself is the most obvious thing to do, and sometimes you need to hide things in the last place anyone would look. But it doesn't explain why he hasn't retrieved it given the circumstances, unless he doesn't need it yet.

[ A beat, a thoughtful tap of his fingers against his cheek. ]

Or if he no longer has a use for it.
