Week 1
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.
Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.
And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!
No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

Helios Suites
He debates if he should say something and distract the man, but he has to voice his concerns. He can't have someone die less than a week into their captivity.]
Obi! What are you doing up there? What if you get hurt?
no subject
[Pausing at a second floor window, Obi spares Jonathan a moment and a reassuring smile. At least, it's meant to be reassuring, except for the part where he sure ain't gonna stop climbing.]
Don't worry, Your Honor! I'll be fine. I've been climbing up castles and onto roofs for years. Hasn't hurt me yet!
no subject
[He is, however, extremely flattered by being referred to as "Your Honor". And frankly, if Obi has experience with this, then surely he knows what he's doing. He offers a smile back.]
If you are certain about that! [...Well... if he's up there already...] Can you see anything useful on the upper floors?
no subject
Not yet. Seems like the windows are all boarded up from the inside, so I can't get in, either. But I'll keep looking. I wanna see if I can get a better view of the city from up high, too.
[Not that he's likely to find anything useful with this, since I doubt "climbing the building" was meant to be an investigative route...]
no subject
Also the thought legitimately doesn't occur to him.]
Oh, that's a good idea! Perhaps we could create some sort of beacon in hopes that a passing submarine notices.
[There is a brief pause as he smiles up at Obi.]
I must say I wish I knew you back home. It would have been easy to escape the Count's grasp if I had you around to scale the castle walls.
[Well...]
no subject
You know, part of the reason Master keeps me around is exactly for things like that. Mine's a useful and unique set of skills in a knight.
[He shifts position, bracing himself securely in the window with hands and feet so he can face Jonathan properly, even way up there.]
And if Master heard something like what happened to you was going on in his kingdom, he'd send me right over to get you out and then come galloping up to the door himself, gallant as you like. He'd bring the whole knight circle with him. We'd have you home safe before you knew it.
So what I'm saying is... yeah, you're right. Wish I could've been there to help, Your Honor.
no subject
I would have loved that, Obi. You mustn't guilt yourself over being unable to help. I'm sure I could rely on you and your Master had we met prior to my stay with the Count.
[He looks like he's about to continue when he realizes that Obi is still... climbing a building, and that this could be really distracting for him.]
My deepest apologies, I'm realizing that this is hardly the best place for a conversation like this! I shall wait until you're in a safer position so we can continue.
no subject
[Without waiting for Jonathan to be polite and British about letting him keep going, Obi peers down and just hops right off into the empty air. It's all very Naruto. He lands a few feet away from Jonathan like it was nothing and pops back up, stretching his arms over his head.]
Wanna go for a stroll around the garden instead?
no subject
[Jonathan immediately panics when he sees Obi jump off the building, and it isn't until he sees him land on the ground like it was nothing that he lets himself relax. He takes a deep breath before speaking again.]
I beg of you not to scare me like that. Being a captive here is enough excitement already, I couldn't bear to think what would happen if one of you got hurt on my watch.
[He doesn't seem too upset by Obi's stunt, however, as he quickly smiles again.]
Yes, a walk in the garden sounds perfect.
no subject
You know, what you said about protecting people on your watch really oughta be my line.
[Not that he's bothered. He's in as good a humor as always, and he seems happy to have gotten some airtime.]
You've sworn yourself to a different sort of service, haven't you?
no subject
[He smiles as he walks into the garden. Slowly, so he can properly take in the surroundings.]
I have, but I realize that I have more familiarity of this sort of situation than most others here. I may not be good at fighting like you, but I feel as though I have a duty to ensure that everyone here is safe.
no subject
[And it warms the cockles of his. Still, he raises a finger to make a point.]
Don't take too much on by yourself, okay? I say this 'cause you remind me of someone I'm real fond of. She has a habit of running herself ragged to help others, and I've seen her collapse a couple times because of it. We'd rather you stay in one piece, too, you know?
no subject
Thank you, I suppose it's hard to remember sometimes that I'm not alone here. It's quite nice knowing that people here have my back. I know it's a selfish to be happy that more people being held captive but...
[He trails off, worrying that he has no real excuse for his selfishness.]
Whoa I lost this one
[Laughing, he shakes his head.]
Pretty sure it's not selfish not to want to deal with craziness like this on your own. Each of us is only meant to handle so much, and most things go easier with reliable teammates.
