Week 1
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.
Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.
And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!
No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

Adaman listens, though, and nods his head, though he seems a little surprised by that last bit.]
His friends are fighting? [...Adaman thinks for a moment, back to the conversation that he and Rossiu had before shaking his head.] ...No, that makes sense; when I had told him that I hoped things would go well in his own home, he seemed...pained, for a moment. I could not have imagined...
[Adaman shakes his head, though. It's no matter, and it doesn't feel right to speculate like that.]
Regardless, I understand completely! I have always done the same; I like to believe that in some way, almighty Sinnoh can hear us. They have always answered my own prayers at home in their own way, in keeping those dear safe and ensuring that they come home.
It is but the least one can offer, when something happens. [...] Have you dealt with much of that, where you come from?

It's all right, though; I have confidence in my family, and with those who have joined us. Surely they'll manage in my absence, though I do wish I could at least contact them and let them know I'm not deceased somewhere.

...I understand. I imagine that they must be worried sick about you, no? But fret not; I am certain that we will find a way out of here, and that you will be back with your family soon.

War is a terrible thing, though, and I am sorry that you seem to be facing it as well. All it seems to bring with it is senseless violence, unless something else intervenes.

It's...well, I won't say that it's all right, because it isn't, exactly, but... I will say that as senseless though it is, sometimes it's necessary that we try to intervene. The loss of life experienced shouldn't be in vain, and I'm participating voluntarily as a mage and healer to try to ensure that there's less immediate death than there could have been. It's difficult work, but I consider it worth it.

No, I understand. I don't intend to disparage you by saying such a thing; it is...simply my own experiences with war between the clans of Hisui that have colored such things.
But I understand what you are getting at; that sometimes such things are necessary. And it is very good of you to take up a role to try and keep death to a minimum. It is a very noble act.

I'm sure some would say that I'm no better than anyone else for participating in war at all. It's just what I've chosen to do.

That's a strength in it's own right, I think. The desire to want to help those in need, no matter the circumstances. Even when it seems hopeless, or useless; if one still reaches out to offer a hand, that is what I would call noble.
[Still, the comment about being no better than those that partake...Adaman mulls it over.]
...I suppose I can understand the notion, but I disagree with it. But perhaps that is just me.

[It isn't self-deprecating or anything; it's just gentle, as is his expression. It seems to be his default, that.]

Think nothing of it! I would not say it if I did not mean it, after all! I am not someone who likes to lie to others.
[Adaman really is just that simple of a man, all be told. Just a dumb guy who talks about god a lot!]
Allow me to pray once more, then--for the safety of those dear to you, and so that the war of your own world will come to a peaceful conclusion as well, if I may.

[He starts to bring his hands together to pray, but when Forrest asks his question, Adaman only pauses for a moment before grinning brightly.]
Ah, I pray to the Almighty Sinnoh--the ruler of time itself, and the protector of our region! It is through the utilization of the time that they have given us that we honor them; to make the most of every precious second that we have, so that we may all continue to prosper in their name and with their divine protection.

That's fascinating; it seems a good thought to carry, as well. Making the most of every second you have... I like that.

It certainly is! We only have so much time in the world, do we not? We know not how much Almighty Sinnoh has bestowed upon us; it is imperative that we should make every second of it count!
[His posture settles after, though, into something more calm.]
It is why I hope that when we are out of here, perhaps we may not lose contact. All of your worlds...they sound so very fascinating, and I would love to spend my time learning more!

...Though, if you do fall into Hisui, I hope that you fall into our territory. So long as I'm around, you won't be viewed with suspicion by some of our more wary types.

But the world is vast and full of infinite possibility! And I... [His tone goes a touch uncertain, and he rubs at the back of his head and turns away a bit.] Would certainly like to keep in contact with some of you, at least!

Forrest does consider that for a moment longer, though, before his expression brightens.]
I would like to keep in contact with you as well, Adaman. You've certainly helped make this place far less distressing, and you're a good person to know. It would be a shame to lose contact so soon.

Adaman's expression visibly brightens at that, and he looks back to Forrest easily and grins at the other guy.]
Of course, I agree entirely! And think nothing of it; I want to try and help everyone here however I can. If I can make this place just a little bit more easy to bear before we all escape with our heads held high, then I will be most happy.
You do quite a good job of that yourself, you know. I find it hard not to feel at ease around someone as disarming as you are!
