Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

Ahh, fair enough! I'm used to swimming around a bunch- I've only been around a lot of land for a year or two now.

[ He grabs his plate and pops a squat in the chair opposite of Penelope. ]

Ehe, fair! There's no harm in indulging~! But oooh, stuck where?

[She looks faintly amused at how enthusiastic he is about asking that question, considering how traumatic the answer is.]

Hell. Like, the Nine Hells. Our vice principal opened up a portal to unleash an army of devils on the school in the middle of prom, and we've been trying to get out since we got caught up in the gateway. [It's traumatic, sure, but she's pretty forthcoming about it. These things happen when your life is as crazy as you'd expect.]

The food there is about as terrible as you'd expect too...

[She cocks her head, seemingly quickly recovering from that confession.]

Is it rude to ask what species you are? You're not human, right? But I assume you're not literally an eel, either.

[ Well, that certainly elicits a reaction from Floyd. ]

Whoa, seriously? Yikes. Sounds like something that would happen at my school with how chaotic it gets sometimes. [ He lets out a small laugh, trying to lighten the situation up a bit. ]

But hey, at least you have good food now, right? Time to order as much as you want!

[ With that said, he takes a bite out of his own food, savoring it with a smile before replying. ]

Mmmmnope, 's not rude. At least to me, anyways. I'm a merman! Specifically a moray merman, which is where the "eel" thing comes from.

Yeah, I mean, we go to hell sometimes for school work, like if a devil is causing a whole lot of trouble and we need to really make sure they stay dead.

[She raises her eyebrows at the confirmation and she cocks her head slightly.]

Huh! I guess you just look more humanoid than any of the mermen I've met. They're normally all blue and have fins instead of hair... Different worlds, I guess.

Ha, your school's more hardcore than mine, that's for sure.

[ He perks up at that, though! ]

Oh, yeah, that sorta sounds like how I usually look! I'm normally teal and I have fins instead of ears! I still get to keep my hair, though. And I've got like a suuuuper long tail! I just can't shift back because of whatever the Water Fountain guy did to my abilities.
