Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

You know what they say about the ocean. Water, water, everywhere, and not a drop to drink.

Hey! I have heard that one, actually! [She sounds... weirdly proud about that. It's not every day that she understands a reference! But that one's pretty old.]

Never imagined they'd be talkin' about alcohol.

[inaclearing]

Neither did I. I guess it's a dry county.

[Brett doesn't sound like he minds it so much himself. Sure, he could use a drink - in this place, who couldn't? But he's fine.]

[specialyellthing]

It's probably for the best, thinkin' of all the kids and folks who can't hold their alcohol, but... [Zinda, meanwhile, sounds disappointed. She can hold her liquor painfully well, but there's something about the idea of a beer after a long day... Well. She'll just have to deal. She sighs.]

Guess I'm drownin' my sorrows in steak and chocolate cake instead. Never thought I'd be complaining about that, either.

[inaclearing]

[Brett nods.]

I feel a little weird about all the rich food. Not for health reasons - I feel weird about all the fancy accommodations. It's like he's trying to pretend he's treating us well.

[specialyellthing]

Try not to feel too bad about it. This is just how rich folk are. My guess is he doesn't even know there's any other kind of food. [... But she still punches the order in.]

Probably thinks we're roughin' it having to order it ourselves.

[inaclearing]

It feels tainted.

[But he makes a selection and goes to punch it in himself.]

...I once visited the home of the heir to the Helion fortune. They're one of the biggest arms manufacturers in the country. The whole time I was there, she tried to wine and dine me, show me all her antiques...it was a very strange day.

[specialyellthing]

Yeah? I've probably used their stuff before. Don't pay too much attention to who makes em, long as it's legal. [She gives a hearty laugh while she hangs out by the tube.]

Sounds like a weird one. She didn' try and kill you at the end, did she?

[inaclearing]

[Yikes! Noted!]

No, she didn't. Just took the entire day to get to the point, and then I missed my flight and ended up stranded in Boston.

[specialyellthing]

Sounds like she may as well have killed you, strandin' you in Boston.

[Is that a bad joke, considering their circumstances? Probably, but Zinda's still convinced that's all a scare tactic, unless one of them takes the mayor up on his offer. Which-- she's not ruling out, but she's trying not to dwell on at the same time.]

And what was the point? She give you anything good?

[inaclearing]

...yeah, actually. Good might not be the right word, but it was...important to know, I think.

[For reasons that are maybe a little too long and complicated to get into.]

I was there to learn some of her family history, some...unpleasant parts of it. I think that's why she was trying so hard to put me off.

[specialyellthing]

There ya go. You’ve already survived one crazy rich person. You’re bound to pull it off a second time. [She winks, her tone easy and reassuring. And when the food comes out of the tube… she didn’t lie about the steak and chocolate cake.]

As well as anyone can expect, I guess. This sounds stupid, but I'm actually getting bored, mostly. There isn't a lot to do in here.

[Whoever heard of being bored in a murder aquarium with robots and wizards?]
