Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

We are not exactly... obscure back home, so I find myself forgetting to clarify.

Ah, you are not familiar with the machines, of course. This is a room dedicated to exercise and strength training and those sorts of things--that is what the machines are for.

[He sits up to gesture around.]

They are intended to provide more resistance to train your muscles or give you a way to improve your stamina while running.

[He lets himself fall into a controlled tumble that ends in a sitting position so he can scan the room with freshly enlightened eyes.]

Ah, well, given everything else about our situation, I suppose I cannot blame you for thinking it is far more sinister than it truly is. Admittedly, I think on some level training can be punishing, though I do not believe that it should be if you are approaching it correctly.

Yup, yup. "No pain, no gain," is true to a point, but there's no sense pushing yourself so hard you can't get back at it the next day. That's true both for working out both your body and your mind, isn't it?

At times I feel as though my second in command has coffee running through his veins rather than blood… his motives are generally related to engineering endeavors rather than altruism, but it concerns me all the same.
