Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[ Hodaka nods!! ]

Look, I don't get it either. Usually that's for food or drinks or toys and trinkets. ...There's ones for umbrellas and t-shirts and I think I saw flowers in Tokyo— [ focus kid ] B-but nothing like, living!

[kninja]

[Thoughtfully:] Could there be a hidden passage...? Hmm, nah, that doesn't really make sense.

[Obi shakes his head and brightens.]

Anyway, are you here looking for food for the little guy?

[withagun]

[ Hidden passage isn't even the most outlandish suggestion he's heard today. ]

Uhh, yeah. Yeah, that's...what I'm trying to do. But everything sounds... Look, I read up a lot about what they can't eat, and this menu has a lot of that.

[kninja]

They can eat fish, right? I know Floyd found some in our kitchen the other day.

[He's already getting up and pushing his chair in.]

[withagun]

[ He (and Rain, mimicking him) perks up. ]

Really? In the kitchenette? Just straight up fish?

[kninja]

I think so. Not, like, a whole fish straight from the ocean, just the meat. No scales or bones.

[It was canned tuna.]

Wanna help me look?

[withagun]

[ Hodaka nods, dropping the menu to the table. ]

It's gotta better than any of this stuff. All the fish here's got like...garlic or onions or some kinda weird sauce.

[kninja]

Well, that's the stuff that makes it tasty for humans. No good for cats, though, huh?

[He waves Hodaka after him towards the lobby and the elevator.]

[ Hodaka follows and shakes his head. ]

When I first got him I had to do a lotta research. I wanted to make sure he could grow up nice and strong...and that's how I found out there's a lot you shouldn't feed 'em. Or, at least that shouldn't be their main diet.

[kninja]

Wow. You really take taking care of him seriously, don’t you? As far as I know, most people let cats fend for themselves. Get ‘em to clear out the mice, you know?

[That good ol’ time and culture difference.]

Ha, though I could see My Lady reading up on what’s good for them to eat, too. She’s halfway to being an academic, always got her nose in a book.

W-well, of course... No one else was taking care of him, and he needed someone...

[ A little lost soul, out in the rain, with no one in the world to hold him or give him a smile. ]

Besides. Just setting him up to hunt mice doesn't work as well, in the big city.

[kninja]

That so? Must be a really different place, that city of yours.

[Into Suite 2 they go. Obi immediately looks in the refrigerator, but doesn’t see anything that strikes him as containing fish.] Hmmm… now, if I were fish, where would I be…

[As he opens and closes cabinets, he asks:]

Are you the type who often picks up strays, Li’l Daka?

[ Hodaka decides to help look. He's pretty sure whatever it is has to be processed food, and he's not quite sure...just how much Obi is familiar with that. ]

Huh? [ He looks up, surprised. ] I...don't know. I'd never really done it before, until Rain. I might be...?

[kninja]

[Not very much, Hodaka. Not very much at all.]

I thought you might be. Whoa, what are all these… containers?

[He found the cans, at least.]

[withagun]

[ Just as expected. ]

Canned food. [ He comes over to investigate. ] Aha...! This is probably what Floyd-san meant.

[ And he picks up a can of tuna. ]

[kninja]

[He makes room and peers at the can with curiosity.]

Will that work? How do you open it? Seems like it'd be difficult with the knives here.

[Obi please don't ruin the kitchen knives.]

[withagun]

That's 'cause you don't open it with knives, Obi-san. You open it with a can opener.

[ Which he will retrieve from the kitchenette. Fontaine spared no expense, etc. ]

It'll work a little...but this is still sorta people food. You can't just feed a cat canned tuna and have it be their whole diet.
