Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

Right? I tried to order a Supreme T-Rex Escape like three times and I got a fizzy water with a tiny green lemon. [It's a lime, Jason.] The drinks here kinda suck.

[The correction isn’t mean, though. Zinda’s more amused than anything. And she ran with a multinational and them multidimensional crew. So there’s no reason to judge.]

That’s what they call the green lemons.

[He takes a quick glance around, making sure she isn't talking to someone actually named Scamp.]

Oh, Scamp is me! [Nicknames! He loves nicknames and this one rolls off the tongue better than his old one.] I know what a lime is, there's a whole grove outside Jacksonville right next to the power plant. They have those weird finger-y growths on them and glow in the dark.

That’s right! [She nods enthusiastically. No one’s fought her on the nicknames so far. She’s invincible.]

You gotta watch out for those. Sounds like how you get superpowers.

Seriously?! The spider in an MRI machine didn't work but I coulda just eaten a lime back home?

Eatin' a weird fruit seems like the least weird way to get superpowers.

Radiation only makes 'em temporary superpowers, in my experience. [IN HER EXPERIENCE????]

Maybe yours were so temporary you didn' even know.

[Jason's eyes go wide, like she'd casually just revealed the secrets of the universe to him.]

Yoooooo, that's dope! I wonder what my super temporary superpowers were...I did find new shorts in my hotel room when I got back, maybe I could make new clothes out of nowhere but only the one time.

Are superpowers a super common thing where you're from?

Common enough. Not everybody has 'em, but enough people do to keep things interestin'. Not that anyone needs it, between the aliens and the martial artists in capes and the geniuses runnin the show-- never a boring day.

Maybe your super power was shorts-beams.

...You're officially the coolest person I've ever met in my whole life. I wish I had aliens and guys in capes! I mean, we were pretty sure Ankle Biter Casey got abducted one time but then we found out he drank two whole 40s and woke up in Saint Augustine with a back tattoo.

[Shorts-Beam is the most useful yet lamest superpower he could have gotten. He might have to try again when he gets back home and see if it'll give him something new, like a roulette wheel of superpowers.]
