Week 1

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[From her hiding spot, Aiba uses her x-ray vision on the machine, attempting to see its inner workings, see if that will shed a light on anything.

...]

...I understand the sentiment. I cannot handle seeing any of this either.

[What she saw after using X-ray vision is a mystery she will take to her grave because, to a machine like her, what she saw is pretty eldritch. This is not how a vending machine should work. Aiba has stared at the abyss and it has stared back at her]

[Poor Aiba, traumatized by the unknowable vending machine...]

I find myself with more questions than answers... but it's possible something useful will come out of this at some point, I suppose.

[Maybe a key to get us out of here. That would be nice. It's not going to happen, but he can dream.]

With all due respect, I harbor doubts a machine that provided a modified copy of Alice in Wonderland and salt shakers has anything truly useful inside.

[Apparently Aiba has chalked the machine as useless. Not that it'll stop her from getting coins in there once she has enough for a nice long post in the regains thread, haha]

You're likely right. I have been trying to find a silver lining in our current situation and it really is not working.

[He's absolutely not an optimist. This is a Struggle.]

Perhaps the one positive point is that number of people among us who find the situation acceptable is low. I don't understand anybody who can see this and be as indifferent as to play along with no complaints.

[Looking at you, Seo Dawon. Still, he's probably not going to get in the way of escaping, so she's not going to give him a hard time]

I... suppose I could see an argument for that, if only to attempt to get on our captor's good side.

[But given the hesitance in his tone, he is trying very hard to understand and coming up short.]

Regardless, I would hope most of us are willing to work together.

Seo Dawon doesn't seem to be interested in working together unless the circumstances here turn worse than where he came from -- but there's no reason for him to interfere with everyone else's escape.

[That's her impression of him, from one conversation she had with him. It's not very favorable and perhaps it's mistaken, who knows]

I haven't spoken with him yet myself, but that's good to keep in mind.

[Someone to keep an eye on, though hopefully they're just being a bit paranoid. Given the rules, though... Well, it'd be hard to avoid paranoia.]
