Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[Hearing this is what she gets for not correcting him as soon as possible. Aiba tilts her head towards the machines]

Correct. These machines do make humans sweat until they're so exhausted they can't move. It would be feasible to use these to harvest sweat.

Alright, if it’s not for squeezing the skin-juice outta them, then why do it?

There are many reasons why they would make themselves undergo such things. Health reasons, attracting romantic partners, appealing to their vanity by improving their bodies...

There are also individuals who do it just because they find it rewarding.

[She would go on a tirade about how exercise releases hormones that lead to all kinds of fulfilled sensations on some individuals, but nobody asked for that, so she doesn't. Still, it's a bit of a habit, but she recalls that information to the forefront of her processes as if it would be used in the near future]

I understand now. It's about self improvement.

[He says it like its something fake and made up.]

Can't say the idea appeals to me. [Working out or being less Like This? Good question!] You?

I could improve myself at any moment, I just choose not to.

[Aiba means that literally because she's the one who created her human appearance and even her blobby hamster appearance, but she sure made this sound like she thinks self-improvement is for chumps]

[How does it feel to be compared to the same as him? Probably not good.]

[She's sure if Misfire ever told anybody she and him are kindred spirits, that'd damage Aiba's reputation, haha]

I suppose there are far worse people to be kindred spirits with.

Come to think of it, I haven’t heard you mention anything about your pals back home. That classified information, or are you just all by your lonesome?

Well...I suppose that's not classified.

[Aha, something she can talk about! For the most part]

There aren't that many people I socialize with. My boss Boss [she has a name but everyone calls her Boss, haha] and my...um, physician, I suppose,-- [read: programmer] --talk to me from time to time, but it never involves anything casual. We have a work relationship and nothing more.

My partner Kaname Date, though, is the one I'm with all the time. I'm her assistant. Due to our work we're together 24/7, and it's been like that for five years already. As much of a pain in the ass as he can be, if I had to rely on someone it would be him.

[Aiba was made not only as someone to help him in his job, but also as a life companion for him, and she is completely devoted to him, yeah]

Sounds like you keep a pretty tight circle.

[It actually sounds kind of lonely. Maybe that works for some people, but if Misfire didn't have his band of misfits...he can't even think of what that'd be like. Being a part of the Scavengers has become such a part of his identity that it's just downright weird to imagine a life without them.]

Being at this Date guy's hip 24/7 sounds pretty intense, though. What's it like without him? Feeling liberated?
