Week 1
Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.
There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.
Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.
And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!
No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

She sounds a lot like my Mina, actually. Mina is soft and kind but fiercely determined. She has been studying to be a school teacher so it's logical that she would know quite a bit. But I was quite surprised to learn that she had been studying shorthand to understand the notes I read, and more recently we have been sending each other letters in shorthand. We have found that shorthand makes gives love letters an attractive edge of mystery to them. To tell the truth, I am confident that her intelligence much surpasses my own.
And goodness, she can read me like a book. She can always tell when I'm feeling out of sorts and always knows the best solution to cheer me up. It's quite impressive, really.
[He sighs, somewhat wistfully but still full of admiration.]
The day she proposed to me was the happiest day of my life.

I really am. My Mina's Irish and it's a tradition in Ireland for ladies to propose on leap day.
It was a cold evening. It had snowed recently but the skies had cleared up, and it was absolutely magical. Mina had invited me for an evening stroll and took us to our favorite park bench. We spent a little while pointing out constellations but while I was distracted, she got down on one knee and took my hand in hers.
[He's getting misty eyed just thinking about it.]
She looked so beautiful then, and I don't think we've ever embraced each other tighter than when I said "yes" to her proposal.

Congratulations, Your Honor. Your fiancée is the coolest. That's so romantic! I wish you two all the happiness married life can bring!
[He's back to full Obi cheer now, bright and grinning.]
If My Lady proposed like that to Master, I think he might swoon on the spot! Aw, man, I'd love for it to go like that for them, but she might not feel like she can be the one to ask, given his position and all. Maybe once she's sure she's won his brother over? Hmmm.

It was wonderful!
[It was... nice to think of his life outside of imprisonment and not feel pure sorrow, to actually feel happy about his happy memories.]
Perhaps when we get out of here, my Mina can give your Lady some pointers on proposing. I assure you being proposed to is an amazing experience and I think your Master would adore it too.

[He can picture just how red Zen would turn. He'd be like an inverse Shirayuki, all snow-white hair and skin like an apple.]
But he's a prince, you see, and My Lady a common girl from the neighboring kingdom. Those of us close by can see how good they are for each other, but once word gets out of any sort of relationship between them, every eye in Clarines will be fixed on them. They haven't said, but I think they believe they still have work to do before either of them can make a move.
[The brother Obi's lady has to win over is the mcfuckin' king.]
I think they should just go ahead and make it official. Life's too short! But duty and work obligations, blah, blah, blah.
