Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

Oh, is that yours? Please, feel free to take it.

[Strange that the vending machine apparently contains Hodaka's stuff...]

[ He sets Rain down and then picks it up. Cautiously he opens it and each little teru teru bōzu bounces around. ]

Yeah... [ He turns it around. Rain watches, scrunching up his hind legs like he's going to jump at one of the dolls even though they are so outside of his reach. ] I never thought I'd see this thing again. Why...

[Oh, cute...]

I'm curious how it ended up here as well, but somehow I doubt we'll be getting an answer for that any time soon.

[Maybe the vending machine will always remain a bizarre, unknowable entity. Who knows!!!]

[ Who does really!!! ]

Another mystery we just gotta sit and wait about...

[ In slightly...not quite bitter, more grumpy tone. ]

[i'm not sure if i want the vending machine to remain forever unexplained or for it to be a massive plot point connecting all three rounds. either is absolutely hilarious.]

I sincerely hope we're able to figure some things out... Though I'm not sure any answers we get about this will reveal much of importance.

[calling it rn the true final trial is figuring out the vending machine's identity!!!!!]

I dunno... I mean, I'd rather be outta here than figure stuff out...but your never know, maybe finding out how all this even fits in there'll be helpful for something eventually.

It's certainly possible. We can't afford to overlook anything at this point.

[ After a moment: ] Have...you found anything that you think may help, Rossiu-san...?

Not personally, but Adaman did find an audio recording in the garden. It would seem that there are a few things left behind that could prove useful, so we need to continue looking.

[withagun]

An audio recording...? Huh...

[ Hodaka muses on this as Rain...ah, he's approaching Rossiu, actually! His bell jingles as he tentatively reaches out a paw. ]

[onemillion]

Yes. It wasn't anything particularly important, but we may find something else that is later on.

[But anyway, look at this adorable cat!! Rossiu kneels down and offers Rain his hand. He's not exactly great with animals, but he's going to do his best!!]

[withagun]

[ His best seems to be all that's needed, as Rain sniffs and immediately starts rubbing against him. ]

...I think he likes you.

[BABY........

That's cute, Rossiu will absolutely give Rain pets!! He's very gentle, of course.]

[ He is treated to a very small and very pleased mew, and Hodaka smiles for the first time since he saw the umbrella. ]

And he knows it!

Does he do this to you to try to get more food?

[Weaponizing his cuteness... a true criminal mastermind....]

[ Hodaka closes the umbrella and nods. ]

I've gotten used to it... But...the other people I was staying with, they caved every time.

[onemillion]

I can't blame them for that, it would be hard to say no to someone so adorable.

[ Rain mews his approval. ]

Do... Ah, do you have any pets, Rossiu-san?

[onemillion]

[Cute...]

I do not. Some of my colleagues do, but I haven't had the opportunity to get to know them.

[Boota exists!! Rossiu has probably never spoken to Boota.]

[withagun]

[ That's a two sentence tragedy right there. ]

Oh... Well... It's nice. I'd recommend trying it. Taking care of something... It can be nice.

It may be worth looking into once I return. I'll be sure to keep it in mind.
