Funeral Service for Adaman and Hodaka Morishima

[ An hour or two after the first trial's end, Hild and the Undertaker set out to invite as many people as possible to the Restaurant for the funerals of our dearly departed friends.

Why the restaurant of all places? Because there aren't enough chairs and tables elsewhere.

Indeed, some of the tables have been moved against the wall to make room for the seats. The chairs have been set up in four rows of six, like an improvised theater or a church. To the side, a small buffet has been set up courtesy of Obi, Mafuyu, and Hild. As for the main event? Two tables have been set up and decorated in black fabric and white flowers. In lieu of a live viewing, two drawings referenced from the profiles have been set up in the center of funeral wreaths... They're not the best, due to the artist's handicaps, but it does look like Adaman and Hodaka at least.]

[Zinda’s quiet for a bit, mulling over his words. Now that part, she can’t relate much to. For her, the memories of who she was in the war are fresh—- fresher than they could be for anyone else who was still alive from it, ruling out night terrors and flashbacks.

So she just nods, inclining her chin slightly.]

Some of my friends… They’ve lived a few different lives themselves. Some in the span of human lives, some more. Always makes me think about how you can change. Become someone new.

So who knows, Big Guy. Maybe it did all happen to someone else. And who you were then was all just addin up to make you who you are today.

Cant say I know for sure, though. Ninety years ain’t impressive with how long you’ve been around.

[Jonathan flinches, and looks over at Obi in surprise. He quickly pulls out his handkerchief and starts dabbing at his tears.]

Sorry Obi, I had no idea you were here.

[Zinda squints upwards towards the roof, then falls out once she realizes whose up there—-]

[After a moment, he unclips the small cape he wears on his shoulder and wraps it around Jonathan instead.]

I... I know. I'll try not to be so reckless in the future.

[He sighs.]

It's a tragedy that Fontaine has not provided us with steady access to alcohol here. I would do anything for some beer or a good glass of wine. I feel as though I would be much more tolerable if I were not sober at the present.

[Obi looks down and waves.]

I'm full of surprises, Lady Zinda!

[His heart's not in the banter, though. He rubs the back of his neck and calls down:]

Okay! So you've answered the "Why?" thing.

[Dandy huffs. QT and Meow are certainly not the worst companions when you're feeling own, especially the former, but they aren't people, and they certainly aren't ones to ask the right questions when Dandy is truly having a hard time.

In all fairness, he doesn't make it easy for them. Dandy prefers to keep his true sorrows to himself, in the hope that ignoring these issues will lead to them fading from his memory in due time.]

[Not only have the children been sent to a potentially watery grave, there were a whole twenty-five other people in that box of clear glass. His conversation with Eleanor indicates that there were several batches before their own, hundreds even, and the just the thought of it makes him burn right up.]

[Misfire doesn’t waste any time between taking the menu and punching in the order. He’s not picking things entirely at random, but there’s not much thought in it; everything ordered had a French-sounding name, and is mostly desserts.]

[Misfire decides to take a seat in that blip of silence, and relaxes into it as much someone of his build can.]

[Brett doesn't seem exactly fully present in the here and now himself, but...well, he sees Mielle. He knows about being a kid at a funeral.]

I lost both of my parents when I was thirteen. I'd never been to a funeral before that, and then - [He shakes his head.] To be honest, I barely remember them. The funerals. I know I went, I remember being there, but I'm not sure I could tell you a single thing that happened.

[If he's zoned out now, imagine how it was then.]

[The answer comes easily and... seemingly sincerely, at least. No, she doesn't feel tired. If anything, she's wired, still. She feels as if there's more she should be doing, but there's no task to put herself to.]
