Funeral Service for Adaman and Hodaka Morishima

[ An hour or two after the first trial's end, Hild and the Undertaker set out to invite as many people as possible to the Restaurant for the funerals of our dearly departed friends.

Why the restaurant of all places? Because there aren't enough chairs and tables elsewhere.

Indeed, some of the tables have been moved against the wall to make room for the seats. The chairs have been set up in four rows of six, like an improvised theater or a church. To the side, a small buffet has been set up courtesy of Obi, Mafuyu, and Hild. As for the main event? Two tables have been set up and decorated in black fabric and white flowers. In lieu of a live viewing, two drawings referenced from the profiles have been set up in the center of funeral wreaths... They're not the best, due to the artist's handicaps, but it does look like Adaman and Hodaka at least.]

That you have... [ He smiles. ] And I thank you for that. Now, if you wouldn't mind following me to somewhere more private...

[ And so he heads off into the elevator...

[ Nandor definitely tips his head to one side, like a concerned husky, for a few seconds... but then, of course, he chooses the least self-preserving option.

He follows the Undertaker into the elevator. ]

[ He chats a bit while he's making sure the door is closed. ]

Well... Firstly, in case you're not aware, the position of Grim Reaper is actually a job shared by multiple people - those who have offed themselves, specifically. The reapers are given a list of people who are going to die and every day they must go out and review their cinematic records... Just to be sure they're not needed for society or whatnot.

[ He brushes a hand through his hair... ]

It's supposed to be a neutral role, so the rules are very strict, but... As skilled as I was, I got to a point where I couldn't follow those rules anymore.

So...

[ The Undertaker turns to Nandor, his bangs partially pushed out of the way so that one can see his very green, faintly glowy eyes. ]

... I quit!

[ Ah, yeah. And now that Nandor has a better look at the Undertaker's face, he will notice it is weirdly youthful and also lacking in eyebrows for some reason. ]

[ Nandor blinks at the Undertaker like he's not certain what he's seeing -- because, despite the run-through he just got, he isn't! ]

So... you are the grim reaper, then. Or you were, but now you are just a guy. And that is what you are telling me.

[ But, like, this does make the funerals and the focus on death make a little more sense. ]

[ One good thing about vampires, they don't know much about how Death operates. So they ask silly questions like this! ]

Well, sort of! Just because I've been living among humans for the past half- century doesn't mean I became any more human than when I was on the job.

[ Which makes him just a guy who is... Immortal, in a sense. He'd have more to show for it if it wasn't for Fontaine screwing over everyone with powers. ]

[ He's silent for, like, five seconds as this sinks in, making a little face along the lines of "ah, makes sense", then rapidly switches back to indignation! ]

Well, why did you not just tell me that, then?!

Eh... Let's just say quite a few of my old colleagues weren't too happy with me, and I'd rather not be found...

[ What did he do? You'll have to pay to see the rest. ]

Besides, most humans would assume the worst if they knew I was ever a grim reaper... And it was funny to let you think I was a vampire until the "energy vampire" thing. Whatever those are.

Eh, you have probably met one or two. Or perhaps you are lucky and they simply do not exist where you come from... but that is unlikely.

... I take it, they're not too popular with your lot.

[ And considering vampires don't seem exist at all in his home world... Safe to assume Energy Vampires don't exist either. ]

Indeed, they are the only kind of vampires who can feed on us. Real pain in the ass sometimes. You know, there you are, just trying to slumber, and there is fucking Colin Robinson playing the drums on the lid of your coffin — and then you cannot even get mad, because that is why he is doing it! Also, really smug about being able to go out in the sun.
