Week 4

Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

Sunday arrives ahead of schedule again, bringing with it the creeping dread that this is just how this is going to go. Welcome to the murdergame cycle.

At least there's another section of the city available to you! This one even has some things to do without you having to make your own fun. Which also means there's more to find about this place.

There's still over 20 of you alive... maybe that's something to celebrate? It could be worse! But... at least one of you is an attempted killer, apparently. Either way, better keep talking if you want regains!

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[ ooc: Welcome to the fourth week of Unknown Seas Round 3! Please make sure to mark any investigation toplevels accordingly, post your ac, and you can reach either Mayor Fontaine or Eleanor for conversations! ]

[ He's probably blinking his eyes at all the lights in here. So much noise, so many strange machines.

And now he's found the little hamster thing projecting herself on one of those strange machines. ]

Lose? Is this machine some sort of game, then?

He must have thought it did something else...

It is! This one in particular is for dancing according to the prompts on the screen. People use it as a test of their skill.

[ He walks closer and squints at the screen. ]

... These are just arrows arranged in a pattern. How is this supposed to measure their dancing skill?
pairtner: (about ignorance)

[personal profile] pairtner 2022-07-04 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You dance on this mat, and at the end the machine measures how many prompts you followed correctly and how accurately you did it, giving you points. The points are tallied and the winner is the one with the most points.

[ He looks down at the mat... Which is connected to the game itself... He can guess how the mat tells the game where you step but... ]

Eh...

What other games are here? [ Yup, gonna explore the room of noisy machines instead. Please guide him, hamham friend. ]
pairtner: (addition of idea)

Pinball machines, skill games, dexterity games, videogames...there's something for everyone. That said, and I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I do wonder if you will be able to play given your sight issues.

[ She raised a good point... To that comment, he smirks. ]

Is that what you think? Perhaps we could try one of those dexterity games, then.

[ Just because his vision sucks doesn't mean he's helpless... ]

[Aiba seems glad his vision impairment won't bring him any trouble. Great!]

As you wish. I do warn you I don't intend to lose.

[Dexterity games! Dropping balls into a cube according to timing! Others pressing buttons at the right time! Skeeball! Many other assorted choices!]
giddyundertaker: (I ain't one for the rumor mill)

[personal profile] giddyundertaker 2022-07-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Skeeball! Yes, he is going to this one. ]

This seems interesting! What's the objective of this one?
pairtner: (agent of illumination)

[personal profile] pairtner 2022-07-06 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
This is called 'Skeeball'. The objective is to roll a ball into this lane to make it fall into the holes at the end of the lane, where you will find the wall is slanted and with circular barriers to direct the ball if you don't hit the hole. There's a bump right before the wall so the ball jumps. The smaller and higher holes give more points.

In other words, calculating the direction and how strong you must throw the ball is key to get a good score.

[Very academic-sounding explanation, as expected of her]
giddyundertaker: (Not exactly spoken)

[personal profile] giddyundertaker 2022-07-06 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Very academic, much easier to get into than weird mat dancing game. ]

Sounds simple enough! Are we going to be taking turns at it then?

[ He wants to see how she's gonna actually roll the ball, given he knows her true form is a small creature... ]
pairtner: (acerbic impediment)

We will. Challengers play first. Allow me to see how difficult it will be to defeat you.

[Well! Nobody can say Aiba doesn't have any confidence in her skills, haha]
