I mean, that goes without saying. No one comes up with an idea like this unless it's something they've already wanted to do and they were just looking for the excuse.

I feel like that's something we're never going to work out for ourselves. Like, it seems like he's in it for something more than just us killing each other, but then he seems to know full well that he's just being cruel at the same time. So what is the point?

Considering he keeps using technology far past where this world is supposed to be and puts it to use replicating magic, could he be trying to build something that doesn't exist?

You mean like he's trying to fast-track something about this world's development...? Like what?

That, I'm not sure. But even if it were just a power play, he'd have no reason to be cagey about it.

Not with us, anyway. But, then again, part of that note made it sound like he was using someone he'd brought in to build something...

It's hard to imagine what that would be. But... I guess what's in play here is a little limited in how you can apply it.
