FIFTH INVESTIGATION

Morning dawns on Friday with the same sense of horribly mundane not-quite-dread it must by now, everything normal as you wake to leave your rooms and yet... well, the weeks haven't been kind to this usual favorite of days, have they? It's been over a month now since your last normal Friday.

But maybe this one will be different. Maybe you'll all find that despite everything, you've all finally made it to the end of one of The Professor's motives. You've outlasted him, and can see what happens when you all do so.

Or maybe not. Only one way to find out.

[ What's cookin', good... oh dear. ]

[ Alright. Okay. Rin is right here, so she'll... She'll take body-touching duty again.

So Sly's just like... lying prone on the floor, is that it? ]

[ Well... yes and no. He's sort of lying face-down in a weird heap? ]

[mouflon]

[ Like... An "every one of his bones is broken" weird heap, or something else? ]

[bathymetric]

[ No, nothing like that! It's just a vaguely unnatural pose to find a body in.

Gives you a nice view of the small wound on the back of his head, though. ]

[ Neat! Let's crouch down and get a closer look at this wound. What kind of damage does it look like? ]

[ Well, it's definitely fairly small - it would be surprising if this was a killing blow. Sly doesn't seem like the kind of guy to go down in one hit, you know? But if she looks, it's the only visible wound on his whole body. ]

[ ...If Rin sort of... pushes his fur back and away from his skin to get a better look.

Does it look like a puncture wound? ]

[ Nope! Looks like an impact wound. ]

[ Okay, two for two on the violence not being as horrible as I expected! That's a relief.

I'll just assume Rin flagged Mira down to take some pictures first, so she'll roll Sly over to see there's anything more incriminating on the front of his body instead. ]

[ Actually, no! That seems to be the end of the body evidence.

You might want to take a second to play Where In The World Is Sly's Hat, though, because it's not here. ]

[ If it doesn't look like the body holds any answers, Rin will look around the rest of the kitchen, yeah! ]

[ Sly's hat in particular is a fair distance away from the body, near a clump of other unusual things! ]

[ Rin will check for anything of note regarding the hat once she has sorted through the rest of that clump, then! ]

[ Alright, so! First up, we have a teapot and two teacups set out! One of them is still full. ]

[ So... Say Rin takes the lid off the teapot. Anything else in there? How much tea is left overall? ]

[ Not much left, but the leaves are here! We got chamomile, mostly, but we also got uh... other stuff. ]

[ Cool! Rin's going to go find a bowl or something to dump the remains into so she can sift through them! ]

[ Alright! So there's some general uh. Plant Debris in here, which is gross, but there's at least one identifiable thing! ]

[ What have we got? ]

[ Some distinctive purple flowers. ]

[ Mmmm. Rin... doesn't know a lot about botany, so she'll probably just take this whole mess to the trial.

[ Looks like the knife block has been disturbed - it's been moved next to the teapot. ]
