THE LAST WEEK

You wake up with Saturday gone, but... not entirely forgotten. In the same way things seem to be breaking down in the facility, things beyond what you know are starting to fail as well. You get flashes of an unfamiliar room, a groggy sense of timelessness... and then you're back to reality in your beds. It's Sunday.

There are no new locations to unlock this week. You actually find yourself down some - Area D has flooded completely, and the groaning on the doors to the other areas indicates that perhaps the flooding won't stop there. Someone, however, seems to have taken all the memorials (except for poor Zelos-David, god rest his soul) and moved them to the Lounge "overnight." There's a handwritten note on top of all of them, which simply reads "Thought you guys would rather have these than not. :)"

While you obviously won't run into Angel anywhere, use of the Ouija or pestering of the new Assistant are still more than permitted! Otherwise get your affairs in order, get ready, and brace for impact, because one way or another? The end is coming.

Yeah. Bolderfall. It's... not home, exactly, but it's where I'll be heading once we get out of here.

Looks like he got an assortment of things like that. I've got a couple of them - one's the city I live in, one's...someplace I stayed for a long time and don't go back to if I can help it.

[So yeah.]

Is that place at least decent? Bolderfall.

Depends on who you are. [He shrugs.] The wealthy live in large estates higher up the cliffs. The poor scrap for their leftovers in the slums below. I like it well enough. You always know where people stand.

I can understand why, at least.

[Consistency and all.]

I've always preferred transparency about stuff like that over uncertainty. Even if the transparency's showing you something unfavorable.

Yeah. Clears up which houses to bother robbing and which taverns to avoid. The only real downside is what a pain it is to get places. But you could say that about the Cliftlands as a whole.

[He waves a hand.]

Too much climbing, too little solid ground.

Is it one of those places you were talking about? Where people think you deserve to die for what you do. Or is that just a really specific subset of people?

[He looks faintly surprised.]

Uh... well, no one's tried to kill me around there lately. Might be a couple other thieves nursing hurt feelings after my last visit, but they already know they're no match. I only really have to deal with the household extorting my services, and they don't want me dead any time soon.

Good to know. Feels kind of pointless to leave one situation that really wants you dead, just to go back to someplace that really wants you dead.

...That's the boat you're in, right?

In the process of dying when the Professor brought me here, actually. Or at least, I thought I was. According to that one motive I've got maybe a couple more hours, and then I die.

[bolderfell]

So... what's your plan? You're okay now. Going to go back and change things? Get back to your family or whatever?

Don't have one. I figure it's stupid to make any sort of plans for that sort of thing now, when we're not altogether sure we're not going to die.

Focusing on the not-dying part right now. I'll figure out what to do from there when we've gotten through this and I'm still not dead.

[bolderfell]

Yeah. You're right. Heh, this picture ball must be getting to me.

[Still, he's careful when he tucks it under his cloak.]

Just feels like it's coming to an end. We even remember a little of our missing day this time.

Yeah. Something's definitely ending, don't get me wrong. I'm just...

[ugh.]

I don't know. I'm not the most optimistic person, you know?

Well, yeah. Neither am I. Just... don't have a lot else to think about. Not until we hear what's coming next. No new places, few angles I haven't already looked at. I can't just play games all day and wait.
