So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[This morning, Anna checks out the vending machine. While most of what she gets is sorted into a neat pile, once a gold pocketwatch pops out, she gives a small gasp and turns it over carefully.]

So it's more than just the axe.

[Later, she'll be in the library, drinking tea like she's never heard of any cultural rule against food and drink in there. She's also reading... the back section of the Bible+ she got and wrinkling her nose. What is this?

In the lounge come evening, you can find Anna sitting there, watching the smooth jazz channel that's the only thing that's ever on, but she's either really absorbed or thinking about something else. Given the glower on her face, probably the latter.]

What axe?

[Hi, Anna. Hope you don't mind company this morning!!]

[emberserker]

[Anna looks up, still holding the watch.]

The one that fell out of the vending machine the other day. That and this pocketwatch are mine. I can't say the same for the rest of these things, though.

[shieldsister]

Seems this thing is full of all sorts of bizarre items. Is that important?

[Gestures at the pocketwatch.]

[emberserker]

Inasmuch as it's mine.

[She pops the lid open to show Aela the face, with a moon design and runes instead of words and numbers.]

It looks like it's nine in the morning, and just about the half-moon. That's something.

[Alice said it was gross. Therion doesn't get it, but that's just the tagline of his adventure here. Therion Doesn't Get It.]

I don't mind it so much as I'm sick of it and this place. I'm surprised nobody's dropped dead at this rate.

It's only been a week, and no one's starving or beating us. Is a little frustration enough to take you down, princess?

Excuse me? I'm sure you want to get out as much as anyone.

[Great, it's you. At the very least she's not raging against the jazz, he supposes.]

Still pissed off that people aren't lying at your feet to die for your cause, or is it something else this time?

[emberserker]

[She sits up with a start and glares, but hey, she's not throwing anything at him.]

Come off it, will you? Have you gotten anything strange from the prize machine?

Yeah, of course I have. I pulled a living thing out of there earlier, along with some stuff I wasn't particularly pleased to see here. Why?

[emberserker]

A living thing? Oh, don't tell me it's more worms.

What axe.

[ Once again, Jasper comes through the door at the time that will be most personally irritating to Anna. She looks curious, which is not great, and is tossing her little pile of coins up and down in one hand. ]

[emberserker]

My axe. It dropped out of the machine the other day with all the junk. I suppose you're looking for your things, too.

[hardnosed]

Not mine. [ Hers. ] You're trying to tell me you wield an axe.

[emberserker]

I suppose your household just punches down trees for firewood.

[ And he'll be here, hiding out in the library because there's bound to be some interesting literature.

His curiosity was briefly piqued upon noticing the other current occupant in the room and her expression. ]

Is something wrong with the book?

[emberserker]

It's a religious text, or rather a collection of religious and cultural texts, but at the end, they just threw in this unrelated story. Honestly, I don't see the point.

...Someone's idea of a joke?

[ That's his best guess because he wouldn't know either. ]

[emberserker]

Apparently. I'd say the entire prize machine is. I got live worms once.

Something of yours, I take it. [ But Rin clearly isn't expecting a reply to that, because she immediately continues, ] Isn't it creepy? Knowing he's gone through our things on top of everything else.

[emberserker]

Of course it is. What's strange is that he puts it into the prize machine. I understand taunting us, but what use is the machine to begin with?

[mouflon]

I can only guess, but the randomness might be part of the point. Like, it just seems to spit out a bunch of garbage with no rhyme or reason, right? That makes it "fair," since we all have an equal chance of getting something useful.

[emberserker]

Or live worms.

[Anna grimaces. She pops open the lid of the watch and looks it over.]

Nothing seems to be damaged. It doesn't make sense, of course, but this seems to prove that the things we receive aren't actually stored in the machine. It must only transport them.
