So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

IT'S A MOVIE NIGHT

[ Thursday morning, Mira starts the day by making... a sign. Luckily, though, this sign is not alerting anyone of unholy things in the vending machine; rather, it's an announcement--in pretty nice handwriting, too.

MOVIE NIGHT TONIGHT
Rose and I have gotten a few movies, courtesy of Angel--I'd like to invite everyone to come to the lounge for a movie night at 5PM. We have Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, and Les Miserables. If you don't know what those are, that's fine; they're musicals, for the most part.

Snacks and drinks will be provided--and if you have requests, I can see what I can do. Please come if you're able, even just for a couple of showings.

And throughout the day, Mira's making herself busy with preparing. By the time 5 rolls around, there are... well, that's a lot of snacks. Of course, there's popcorn, but there are even a couple of those gingerbread houses. There's fruit and vegetables, for those more health-conscious, and soda and tea along with some water. Have requests? She'll absolutely go back to the dining area to see.

And maybe she's running herself a little ragged but like... listen. It's fine. It sure beats dwelling on that motive, am I right? Daisy is here, too, if you want to pet a very good corgi.

Also, Angel? You can absolutely bet she's delivered a hand-written invitation to your office. ]

[ Is she organizing this whole thing all by herself? Ema can't cook worth a damn, but at the very least, she's not one to sit idly by and let Mira do all of the prep... ]

I'll give you a hand. Setting up for twenty-five isn't as easy as it seems, and it'll go by faster with someone to chat with.

[ For what it's worth, she doesn't seem too bothered... which says a lot about her, probably. ]

If you're sure... I'd appreciate it. Oh, and don't mind the dog. [ The dog, who's sitting at Mira's feet. ] She's well-behaved, so she shouldn't get in your way.

[Piers meant to just stop by for maybe one flick and some snacks. Honest.

He ends up watch all of them, tearing through the veg and dip the whole time.

He seems pretty chill with the Disney fair though... what is he tearing up at Tarzan?

By the time Les Mis comes up tho he's tired and cranky and scowling]

[Although Rose seems pretty lukewarm on this movie, especially after how invested she seemed to be in The Little Mermaid.]

Maybe...they aren't supposed to be good singers? A lot of them died right after they sang.

[Therion's not staying to watch all these movies, but he passes through the lounge periodically, and each time he comes to see just what's so fascinating about these "movies."

[Rose shows up for movie night! Unlike yesterday, she seems to be totally fine once again! She's definitely fine. A little quiet, perhaps, but she's never been the loudest person around, and anyway we're all watching movies. Aren't you supposed to be quiet?

She snacks lightly throughout Tarzan and Les Miserables, seeming fairly interested in the songs. The Little Mermaid seems to be the movie that really gets her, though. Is she tearing up in the middle of Part of Your World? Or...

...well. She just goes a little blank when Triton destroys Ariel's grotto.]

[Movie night isn't part of Therion's plans for the evening, but he just so happens to leave his room early into Aladdin. As he passes, he glances at the screen--

"Stop, thief! Vandal! Abu! Scandal!"

And is SLAMMED with such a wave of intense fuckor--how dare you put him on blast like this, Walt Disney Feature Animation 1992--that he temporarily loses control of his entire body and freezes on the spot.

[ Jasper's bedroom door slides open halfway through Part of Your World! She stands in her doorway for a solid five seconds before walking back in, never to be seen again.

no okay she comes out like thirty seconds later with a look of profound annoyance, a gingerbread house, and a single bottle of BBQ sauce, which she just kind of dumps with the rest of the snacks before stalking out of the lounge entirely.

Several hours later, she comes back. It's Les Miserables! Hugh Jackman must answer to Javert! How is it not over yet. She observes for a moment, eyes narrowed, before speaking to nobody. ]

Why are they always singing.

[...oh, heck, why not. It might take his mind off all the internal screaming about the motive and he's kind of curious about what these "movie" things might be. For the most part, he seems to be having a pretty good time, despite the icon! He just kind of lets the experience wash over him for Aladdin, because holy fuck, moving drawings that are kind of an opera? Kind of? That's cool as hell. The story is cute, he feels like he's definitely missing something with Genie like, constantly, but it seems like it would be rude to ask while the movie's going on. Maybe he'll ask... later.

The Little Mermaid is kind of an oof, though, given... uh... Ariel reminds him of... someone... and he kind of looks visibly conflicted by Triton's everything... like, you know. Maybe he can kind of understand the struggle of the fact that your daughter will probably want to date a human at some point, even if there are potentially insurmountable differences between you at this particular point in time! And you want to protect her from heartbreak when things go bad! But you can be gentler about it than destroying her room full of prized possessions! That's a terrible thing to do!

anyway he's definitely trying not to cry at the end of The Little Mermaid, that's how his night's going. Tarzan is less of an emotional tour de force, frankly. Clayton definitely puts him on edge, but you know. He gets his comeuppance in kind of a horrifying way for something that otherwise seems like he could probably show it to the kinds of kids he writes fables for, but you know. The world is harsh, they can probably take it.

...

Les Miserables is an interesting experience, because while he thinks it's a very interesting story and also holy shit, there's real people in there, every time the revolutionaries are on screen he's trying very hard not to look and see if Rhea is watching, and every time Russel Crowe is singing he's got his fingers steepled as he just... you know... hm. He's going to be polite and not talk during the movie, but as the credits roll, he just finds himself wondering aloud...]

...I really do wonder what Manuela would have to say about that whole thing...

[ It takes a while, but sometime a little ways into Les Mis, so that ideally everyone will be focused on the screen, Angel slips into the Lounge and moves to the back of the room, arms crossed nervously.

She's not going to make any starts at conversation with anyone or grab any food, but she is in fact here! ]

MOVIE NIGHT

[ Della's already watched Aladdin this week with Rose, but who wouldn't want to watch Aladdin every day?? These are all movies she's seen before (except for Les Mis, they made a movie of it?!) but she hasn't seen Tarzan since- well, since the kids, so.

It's a little...much. The opening is a little much for her, and she needs to take a moment. You'll Be In My Heart is...uncomfortable now. ]

[Rhea isn't sure what to think about all this, really. She's there from the beginning because groups are safer. Aladdin leaves her cold. Thieves really aren't her thing but she doesn't say much regardless. The idea of these movies are novel at least and this one seems simple enough for children so she'll let it slide.

The Little Mermaid is a little more personal, though it doesn't hit as hard for her as it does someone else. Wanting to see the outside world even if it's a bad idea, wanting to experience things just to see for yourself... the rage of not being listened to. Certainly those don't apply here, not at all.

Then comes Tarzan. She focuses on it harder than the others, though less so when the other humans show up. It's during the parts of the gorilla family that she focuses on. An adoptive family, wanting to care for but unable to do so enough... wanting to impress someone who has little interest in you. The fact that she thought of Sitri earlier this week doesn't make those themes any easier to swallow.

Though, she's definitely unhappy when Clayton starts showing his true colors. There might be a few comments about how he got off too easily during the credits.

Rhea leaves during the last movie, though. Revolution? In her time of relaxation? How dare you. She doesn't really trust herself to keep a lid on her anger during it.

[Zerinda arrives a bit late to the movie night, about halfway through Aladdin but she doesn't seem to mind. Rose was nice enough to introduce her to it earlier in the week. She's excited to be here and experience some new movies and she even brought a little treat: a bottle of deep purple...grape juice? She sets it out with the other drinks, hovering nearby and gently bouncing on her heels whenever anyone comes near it.]

I put in a few requests and made us wine! It didn't come out not as strong as I can usually make it but try it!

[Eventually she settles down long enough to watch the movies, enraptured as she slowly shovels snacks into her face and drinks her homemade wine. The Little Mermaid has her nodding along in vague understanding, she remembers being that young and craving independence. Maybe not to the point of making deals with demons but that prince was awfully cute.

Les Miserables has her particularly entranced, watching real actual people on the screen instead of moving pictures and the songs! She might be getting a little too close to the screen, if someone doesn't stop her.

And Tarzan...Tarzan leaves her quiet. She sits back on the couch, legs tucked under her and more somber than she's been all evening. Something about "Strangers Like Me" just speaks to her and honestly? She's not sure how she feels about that. So more gingerbread goes into her mouth instead of processing feelings.]

[Hey, if someone's putting on a fun little event, then who is Sly to refuse an invitation?

He turns up early, settling in somewhere off to the side with his own drink and snacks. It's a nice evening for something lighthearted, right?

Aladdin is a fun time, fun enough that Sly cracks a grin at the Genie's antics.]

Wish I found a genie bottle when I was back in ancient Arabia.

[Then it gets around to Tarzan and suddenly he's a lot quieter, finding something far more interesting in his drink than that opening scene. Ahaha... a predator killing parents. Wonderful.]

[During the Little Mermaid, she grabs a strands of her own hair, enough to see it]

...did my parents watch this movie before giving me a name? I mean, Shelley is plenty sea-related.

[Fun fact: Shelley was going to be a mermaid, but the creator changed his mind. Yeah, that's why she has red hair and that name.

Les Miserables, though, she had never watched that one before. There she is with popcorn, enraptured by what she's watching. Oh, this is great]

So good! And with good songs!

[Alice shows up on time and bearing even more snacks—in her hands is a tray bearing a whole bunch of deviled eggs, which she knows from experience humans go apeshit over at parties. As for herself, she's got one of her juiceboxes tucked into her tuxedo pocket, ready for a subtle snack later on during the movie. She leaves the furniture for everyone else, perching on a console table near the back of the room with her legs crossed. She waves at people she's met as they come in, and smiles at those she hasn't.]

I never thought I'd be this excited to watch a Disney movie.

[During Les Miserables, she leans over to the nearest person and whispers:]

This is just porn for people who want to feel sad, right?
