So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[Anna looks up, still holding the watch.]

The one that fell out of the vending machine the other day. That and this pocketwatch are mine. I can't say the same for the rest of these things, though.

[shieldsister]

Seems this thing is full of all sorts of bizarre items. Is that important?

[Gestures at the pocketwatch.]

Inasmuch as it's mine.

[She pops the lid open to show Aela the face, with a moon design and runes instead of words and numbers.]

It looks like it's nine in the morning, and just about the half-moon. That's something.

[Huh, it's pretty cool-looking...]

The half-moon? What does that mean?

[emberserker]

You know moon phases, don't you? I suppose it's no use in here telling how the moon looks in the sky, especially since we still don't know the date. But I assure you it's useful where I'm from.

[shieldsister]

I imagine the ones you're familiar with are different than ours, given that there are two moons.

Two -- well, at least that explains it. The Earth's got just the one; at least mine does, but I wouldn't doubt the rest do. Even Rose and Jasper's, as bizarre as their version of the planet is.

[shieldsister]

The world I come from seems vastly different from everyone else's, from what I've heard so far, at least.

[emberserker]

Whatever the reason for that might be. So many Earths and only one of everything else? I suppose he has a hometown bias.

[shieldsister]

Perhaps there's a reason for it. Bias seems unlikely given how dedicated he is to this "experiment" but he could be an incompetent researcher.

Or maybe there's no reason at all and it's simply chance that things turned out like this. We have no way of knowing.

Chance couldn't possibly describe half of this place. It's engineered specifically for everything he wants. Solving it just means tracing it back to what that is, among other things.

[shieldsister]

You have a point, but we shouldn't be making assumptions about everything. We need to be careful and gather as much information as we can.

[emberserker]

At least you're trying to be useful, unlike some people.

[shieldsister]

Oh? I take it you've had some less than productive conversations with a few people here. Who is it that's irritating you?

[emberserker]

Mr. Birkin, for one, out-and-out said he doesn't mind wasting away in here because his affairs are in order. Something like that.

[shieldsister]

William is a bit strange.

["a bit" also "william"]

I doubt he's the most useless person here, though. [aela don't be rude] He's intelligent and cautious; I've had some productive conversations with him.

[But that is interesting to hear, huh.]

[emberserker]

Cautious, that's for sure. Does it translate into getting anything done?

[shieldsister]

He's helped me learn about the majority of the technology present here. He is trying to gather us all together for a meeting as well to share what we've found, so while his priorities may be different than ours, I would hardly consider him useless.

[emberserker]

A meeting? Well, I suppose I'll go either way. I might as well at this point.

[shieldsister]

There's no harm in hearing about what the others have learned.
