So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

[So. Today sucks. Usually Aela and Lif find some time during the day to spar, but Aela's been scarce all day and only leaves her room in the evening to stop by the vending machine. And here's Lif, looking sort of appalled by whatever he's got there...]

What did you get?

[It was honestly a little unusual to not see Aela anywhere around, Lif has to admit, but he does turn to Aela when she speaks up.]

I think that they were supposed to be lilies, but I can't say that much for sure; they're quite dead.

[They're little more than scrap at this point.]

I take it you're not fond of flowers.

[They sure are. RIP lilies, you didn't deserve, probably.]

I know very little about them. Some can be used in alchemy, that's the extent of my knowledge.

[you can also eat them to learn their properties for alchemy!! skyrim is a great game.]

You don't recognize them?

[every time i learn something new about skyrim i just have more questions]

They're a little too withered to properly tell, but just from the petal shape alone, there's little else they could be. Flower knowledge was more Sharena's forte, anyway.

[At any rate, he intends to hold them with care.]

I don't believe I've ever heard of flowers being utilized in alchemy, however. I assume it's for more medicinal properties?

Yes, as far as I'm aware, none of them are used in poisons. I couldn't tell you much about what each individual flower is useful for, however.

[Something else Lif has said has caught her attention, though.]

Sharena? Who is that?

[honestly? same]

I see, then.

[Ah...Lif goes a little tense at first, but it lightens easily enough.]

Oh, she's my younger sister. [...Very pointedly avoiding the use of is or was, there.] She was always very fond of flowers.

Your sister? [Huh.] Is she a fighter as well?

[Asking only the most important questions here, tbh.]

She knew how to fight, but she far preferred to make friends rather than wage war. [Lif's look is almost fond as he speaks.] But she's a capable combatant, if needed. Her preferred weapon is a lance; she always liked keeping the enemies a fair distance from herself, and she was quite fearsome when she put her heart into a fight.

Hah, I'm not surprised. She's your sister, so she must have some skill in combat.

[The rest of that, though... Well, she doesn't really get it, but...]

She sounds like a kind person. Tell me more about her.

[onefuture]

She is. Father wouldn't have stood for anything less.

[Still, Lif's eyes light up a bit when Aela asks him to elaborate--a lot of the time recalling memories of Sharena can be painful, but...there's something about this that gets him excited that he can talk her up a bit.]

Gladly. Sharena has always been the kindest person you could ever meet; she's the sort to greet every person she meets with a big, bright smile, and more warmth than anyone I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in my life. It's more than a little overwhelming to witness, but she's always had such a deep desire to reach a hand out in peace, rather than pick up a weapon and fight.

Really, it's what inspired me to fight even harder; my dear sister could certainly be naive at times, but...more than anything, I wanted to fight so that my sister could continue to be that bright, effervescent girl who keeps extending her hand out to others. I had more than enough wariness for the both of us, but...she reminded me to take a step back, every now and again, in order to see things from another's perspective.

...Really, I just never wanted her to grow cold and disheartened by the world at large, and how it could be. If there were more people like her in the world...

I feel it'd be a better place.

You aren't wrong.

[Aela's quiet for a moment before continuing.]

There aren't many people like that, where I'm from. Skyrim is in the midst of a civil war, and even before this, many of our people died in a war not all that long ago. People who can continue to find the good in those around them and reach out for others despite how dangerous it can be are few and far between.

I hope your sister can always retain that bright outlook. It's an admirable one.

[onefuture]

[Lif's look neutralizes a bit as Aela goes on; he can't say he's exactly surprised, but there's still something almost saddening about hearing such a thing.]

It takes a rare sort of person, to keep a hold of a strong heart in such trying times. And war will certainly harden the hearts of even the most optimistic, when people are dying left and right...it's enough to make one give up entirely.

But...thank you. [He really does mean that.] ...It's something I hope for as well, even if the situation is a grim oone.

Of course. Perhaps someday I'll get the chance to meet Sharena.

[It's a nice thought, anyway.]

[...Oh, that...

It gets Lif to turn away, honestly, but he forces himself to turn back.]

I'd like that. Sharena would like that, as well, I'm certain. Though, knowing her...she'd be liable to try and drag you about from place to place, asking all sorts of questions without ceasing.

But I'm quite certain she'd like you, if she met you. She would simply be a little overwhelming at first, but she'd do everything in her power to become your friend.

[Lif actually manages to laugh a little, at that. Because let's be honest, Sharena would be exactly that overwhelming, and the thought is almost amusing.]

...It simply might take some time, but...I would like that. Should the chance ever arise, of course.

Hah, you make it sound as though I could find it annoying. I don't mind questions or eagerness - if I did, I'd have more of an issue with the new blood in the Companions.

[...never mind that she complains about them sometimes, shhh.]

I'd like that. Should we get the opportunity, I'd be pleased to meet her.
