So far, good news! You've managed to avoid killing! A week has passed in the facility, but how many more are there to go until one of you tries out Rule Seven? I mean.... we know, but.

No new areas just yet, it remains you guys and yours here for now. Well, and Angel, but again - you don't exactly see her unless you want to. It's more than a little lonely... maybe someone ought to shake things up.

Well, well, aren't we the little busy bee!

[ Is she organizing this whole thing all by herself? Ema can't cook worth a damn, but at the very least, she's not one to sit idly by and let Mira do all of the prep... ]

I'll give you a hand. Setting up for twenty-five isn't as easy as it seems, and it'll go by faster with someone to chat with.

[philoxenia]

Oh--Ema, hi.

[ For what it's worth, she doesn't seem too bothered... which says a lot about her, probably. ]

If you're sure... I'd appreciate it. Oh, and don't mind the dog. [ The dog, who's sitting at Mira's feet. ] She's well-behaved, so she shouldn't get in your way.

She's too cute...you said her name was Daisy at the meeting, right?

[ She reaches down and pets her behind her ears, first and foremost. Can't exactly ignore a good dog, after all. ]

Back home, the police department's pride and joy was this Shiba Inu K-9 named Missile. He was getting up there in years by the time I signed on, but he was the most excitable little guy I'd ever seen. Real sucker for food, too, so he was easy to bribe...

That's right.

[ Daisy is all too happy to accept pets, and she lets out the happiest whine when Ema pets behind her ears. ]

That's adorable... I think I would've adopted a Shiba Inu if I hadn't met Daisy. They're so cute. I'm a little jealous you got to work so closely with one.

Working as a detective was pretty tough going, but that dog did make it just a bit more bearable, if I got to see it back at the station.

[ Goodness, though this one seems particularly well-behaved...she could get a little carried away with this. She almost has to force herself to get up and stop giving her attention... ]

I'm glad you two were reunited, though. It looks like you take good care of each other.

Dogs usually do make the worst of situations better.

[ She's also very soft. Daisy even gives a little whine when Ema moves away... :( ]

Well... I do my best. And she's so sweet, it's hard to not be comforted.

[ Oh, she's trouble... ]

Okay, okay, a few more seconds, but then I have to help Mira, alright?

[ She mumbles quietly under her breath as she moves back down to give Daisy just a bit more attention, knowing she has no choice but to admit defeat. She's always been a bit bad with saying no, especially to animals. ]

She may be sweet, but I think she's got my number. Anyway, I'm happy she's helping, even if it's only a bit. And I'm also happy you set this whole thing up, too. It takes guts to plan out a gathering, especially if you're not really used to it.

[ "I think a lot of us could use it," is what goes unsaid. Herself included, perhaps? ]

[ Mira, though, seems to be enjoying this. She lets out a little laugh, watching Daisy soak up the attention. What a menace. ]

She's hard to resist.

[ But, ah-- ]

... After Tuesday, especially, I thought it was sort of necessary. I've never done anything like this before, but... I'm hoping people will enjoy themselves, all the same.

And I think we could all use something to sort of... turn our minds off for a little while.

[snackooed]

Those movies in particular are good for that sort of thing, I think. [ Well, maybe not Les Mis, but... ] I bet there are a lot of people among us who haven't seen them, or even seen movies in general, so it'll be a good experience to get people together and sort of wow them a bit.

[ They're technically for kids, she supposes, but adults always get a different sort of enjoyment out of them. Not exactly the worst way to unwind, in any event... ]

I used to make Lana watch that princess stuff with me all the time when I was a kid. Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella and all of them. She had these tapes with them left over from when she was a kid, when she would watch them with our parents...man, did you have tapes growing up?

[ She feels like she's showing her age, with this one. ]

[philoxenia]

I haven't seen all of them, but... I've seen more than enough to know I've fallen in love with them. [ A quiet laugh. ] I hope the others will feel the same.

[ Ah, but. ]

Sort of... They weren't quite as common as DVDs, of course, but my brother was the same way. He'd break out the tapes sometimes... Not just Disney movies. There was this copy of Godzilla that I'm shocked hasn't stopped working yet.

Ah, now that's a classic.

[ The way she perks up hearing that, you'd think she was more into that than the princess movies-- ]

I never had those on tape or anything, because I don't think Lana would be caught dead watching them, but there were marathons on the science fiction channel that I used to sneak downstairs to watch late at night, when I thought she was sleeping...I don't think I need to tell you how that would end up.

[ Those earfuls really stick with you sometimes. ]

I was that weird kid who would want to know, like, how strong his nuclear attacks would have to be to work like they did in the movie, and things like that...in other words, I should more accurately say, I had a lot of time on my hands.

[philoxenia]

It scared me when I was a little kid, to be honest.

[ She hums a little. ]

Sneaking out of your room to watch television? I think that's a crime in the sibling world, Ema. I hope she showed you some mercy.

[ There's a lightness to her voice, despite everything... or maybe it's just a little too forced? Like the sign of someone who's trying far too hard to not think about something. ]

[snackooed]

I think, between you and me, the only reason she let me escape to tell the tale was because I couldn't sneak around for squat. The stairs would creak, the floorboards would thump, whole bit...

[ She picks up on the lightness on her voice, but... ]

If I keep talking about this, though, I'll probably chew your ear off until past five. Which I guess is the flipside of having someone else around to do tasks...if you catch me slacking, I'm counting on you to whip me into shape, got it?

[philoxenia]

[ She doesn't mind listening to Ema talk, but... well, she has a point. ]

That's true. We have work to do. [ She gives Ema a grateful smile. ] I really do appreciate your help, Ema. And I'll do my best to keep you on track... Daisy likes to nip at people's heels if they're being trouble, by the way.

[ Mostly she's teasing, but there's a little glint in her eye... ]

After all the attention I just gave her, she'd still bite?! What a traitor...

[ Then she guesses she doesn't have much of a choice. She rolls up her sleeves and makes sure that the legs of her pants are covering her ankles, just in case the dog gets any ideas..! ]

The help is honestly my pleasure, though. Especially considering it's your first time. It's pretty easy to feel overwhelmed when you're tackling a problem alone. It's the reason why people tend to work better in teams...and I'd really hate for anyone to feel isolated, here.

[philoxenia]

[ Daisy, meanwhile, tilts her head. ]

She is a menace.

[ But, right. They have work to do! ]

Mm, honestly... I didn't realize it would be. I'm used to-- [ --doing things alone, she almost says, but catches herself. Is it too late, though? ] --not doing this sort of thing.

[ ... it's not exactly a flawless recovery, but. More importantly. ]

For what it's worth, though... I haven't felt isolated at all.
