And we're all adrift together through the cold mist, 'til we're lifeless together
[The preparations hit differently this time.
Last weekend was at least an attempt at being festive, even with the light supplies they have; at being joyous, at giving people at least one nice thing to look back upon before things inevitably took a turn for the worse. And now two people are dead, and instead of trying to figure out structure placement and how best to keep everyone entertained and occupied and well-fed, the preparations now are given to much more practical purposes.
Large amounts of bottled water from the machine. Bagels and bread and muffins, light starchy things to avoid forcing anyone to keep meat or seafood down after seeing a corpse. Fruit for the sake of providing energy. Avoiding including bananas for any reason. Quietly pulling aside one of the first people she sees with any experience in the matter and asking them to help her make tea.
Once she's got one of the tables at the party zone set up and the tea is on its way to being prepared, she'll set around letting people know; the invitations are simple, written in Freyja's broad, elegant handwriting:
I think another gathering tonight would be beneficial. Not to celebrate, but to remember; perhaps more importantly, to ensure that no one is alone if they don't want to be.
Tonight is hard. There is nothing further to do but get through it.]

Of course, Filbo. What is it?

[Especially since there seems to be at least a couple people Yeager holds in great esteem, just like Filbo does with his buddy. It's just something he's been turning around in his head for a while]

[He considers that carefully, glancing back out at the water.]
I think I would like for them to know right away, but without the details. Trying to explain all of this to everyone back there seems difficult; the most they really need to know is that I can't come back. But even then... I think it would be better for them to know I'm dead.
I know they would all be just fine. I'm not the first leader of Leviathan's Claw, after all! The guild will continue on just fine without me.
[...ironically they actually have no goddamn idea what to do once yeager's gone, but he doesn't know that!!]
As for Gauche and Droite... I would also want them to know, so they can pick up and move on. They're the sort to want to do everything in their power to find and protect me, and I wouldn't want them to waste so much of their time on something like that.
[...]
This is something you've been worried about, ja? I'm not sure my perspective will help all that much, but I don't mind talking about it.
[And sure enough, he really doesn't seem bothered. More somber than usual, yes, but not upset.]

[Filbo listened attentively. So it really is better to just rip off the bandaid, so to say. For both his and everyone else's sake]
No, no, it helps! It's not like I have anyone to talk over these things, anyway. Lady Freyja is great, but I don't wanna burden her with all this when she's already worried. Besides, I think too much about these things anyway when I'm feeling down, so just having someone give me their perspective can help put my thoughts in order.
[And the sooner he does that, the sooner he can bounce back. It's pretty visible -- he already seems kind of more cheerful now. Filbo is quite resilient emotionally]

Topics like this really can be difficult to discuss, right? I never mind this sort of thing - if you need someone to talk to about this sort of thing, I'll always listen. I'm glad I could help!
[tales of vesperia does not have a support system or anything like that, but this is absolutely the equivalent of unlocking the next tier of supports.]

[In a way, it's like Filbo is breaking down the heavy burdens that are starting to grow due to having been kidnapped and brought to a ship to kill each other and sharing them around. Yeager's more pragmatic and straightforward ways of looking at things helps, Freyja sympathizes with the emotional side of his job, and now it seems Chloe breaks through the complex emotional issues to force him to face them.
Is this what's called a support network. How did it come to this, he's supposed to be the one supporting others. Other people rank way higher than himself in his priority list, this wasn't supposed to be how it'd go. He just doesn't get it, hah]

[A leadership role is already difficult enough, but in a position like this? You kind of have to be in that position to understand why this is a difficult consideration in the first place.]
You do seem to be calmer now, though. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better!
no subject
[Without a confetti popper to blast him with, hopefully, but hey, the offer is open]
no subject
[...okay "cute" is how he wants to describe it, but he doesn't want to sound condescending, so that works.]
Truthfully, I always do feel more relaxed after talking with you!

[He's becoming really fond of humans. In just two weeks he has gone from distrust to interest to liking them. They really are an interesting bunch]
no subject
[Or at least, most of the people he's talked to who have mentioned Filbo.]
no subject
[He still doesn't 100% believe it, but that's his issues talking and he knows it. Hard to really believe people like you when you were treated like a nobody for a long time, hah]
It's been better than expected. Trust me, I know it's hard to welcome, uh...new--new things? I didn't even know what to think of you all, and I'm sure it was the same towards me.
[He's completely unaware the fact he looks 100% harmless probably had a lot to do with first impressions, hah. But really, after being two weeks around, everybody just seems like weirdly-shaped grumpuses to him -- not really that different from people at home]

[Filbo out here doing his best...]

[Filbo stops for a moment, hesitating. Shoooould he say...
...
...you know what, alright then. Yeager is trustworthy, he decides. Also this is a whole different world, not his own. Even though he had decided to keep the secret it wasn't like it was so airtight anymore due to the word being on his profile, thanks a lot, Captain]
It's not really the first time I see stuff I didn't understand at first. I dunno how to explain it, but once you see living beings that you never would have guessed existed, you just get all open-minded about it when it happens again, I guess.
[Bugsnax were quite a shock when he saw them for the first time, but he got used to their existence quickly enough. Humans were completely different to Bugsnax, but for some reason he just...found himself accepting their existence far easier than he would have if he hadn't prior experience seeing lifeforms he didn't understand]

I think that's a good explanation of it, ja! I've certainly experienced some odd things back home, which makes it easier to accept such strange things happening here! It has been a little much, but I pride myself in being adaptable.
[Sometimes you just gotta roll with the crazy shit.]

It also helps you all spoke to me! The first thing I said when someone noticed me was ask if they were a figment of my imagination. It's hard to still be on guard when I get a response to that!
