WEEK 3

You wake up on Sunday. This is unusual in large part because, whether or not you did go to sleep, when last you checked? It was Friday. Saturday is missing.

And that's not all, either. Should you check your devices, there's a calendar next to the clock. The date?

December 31st.

The dead are still gone. Your material gains are still here. Every object you've moved on the ship has returned to the position it was in when you first awoke.

Once you've recovered from the shock of that, though, not all is the same as it was when you first awoke! The lock on the door leading down to the next level of the ship has been removed, allowing you free access to a whole new assortment of on-board amenities. Go play some laser tag while you try not to think about what all of this might mean!

And by the end of the week, well... maybe another tragic accident will occur, maybe it won't. No choice but to find out.

[...Oh, goodness, she is weirdly popular for being told things this evening. She'll straighten up, though, and focus her attention on Adeline and her...Parker.]

Have...have you ever been in love? [Wow. Great starter there. Parker nudges her cheek encouragingly with a paw. Get on with it!]

I have. But despite what my title may imply, I'm...perhaps not the best to give advice on the matter.

Well...I don't really...need advice, here... [She's slowly slipping off her labcoat as if preparing to dive into the water.]

It's more...if, hypothetically, a mortal wo-a mortal were to confess to you, what would your reaction be?

I've turned down almost everyone who has ever expressed such a thing. Mortal, álfar or otherwise - it matters very little to me.

Why do you ask?

[Oh great, now part of her just wants to combust on the spot.]

It-it's nothing, then! [Her voice gets more uncharacteristically high-pitched as Parker turns to give Freyja a Look.] I-I-Ithinkyoureprettyandwantedtoaskyououtbutnevermindthen! [She gets that last part out as fast as she can before quickly sinking into the water and burying her face in her hands. She might be staying under for a while if not prompted.]

[Honestly, Parker can give her all the looks he wants, because as far as Freyja is concerned he's a nonentity in this conversation. She'll...probably wait out Adeline's embarrassment over there; it's not like she's going to go over there and try to do something about it, largely because she's still trying to process what exactly just happened. That was. A lot? That was a lot.]

[Parker has hopped off Adeline's shoulder by now and is swimming around the pool, occasionally circling back to make sure his trainer hasn't actually died of embarrassment. Finally, she comes rocketing back to the surface, taking a deep breath. Her voice has mostly returned to its usual calm demeanor by now, at least.]

...I'm sorry. I-I should have just accepted your hypothetical.

[...Okay, well, at least she hasn't somehow drowned down there.]

It's quite all right. I do hope that you are not offended, as it isn't my intention to insult you; however, I am not accepting any courtship proposals. I appreciate the compliment as given, however, and it's kind of you to think of me. But I have little interest in such matters.

[Adeline's just going to...float here and contemplate her life and choices, for a bit. Parker swims up to bat at her face gently, just to make sure she's alright.]

Well...it's a better rejection than some I've received. Thanks for...being direct about it.

I imagine it would be cruel to do otherwise...?

[She says it as though she isn't sure what else she would have done in this situation; this made the most sense to her.]

Leaving someone pining for affection is unfair to all involved, I think.

...it would be. I suppose...some of those cases was when I was younger, towards people who probably didn't have as much experience with knowing their own feelings. [Also some straight girls who took it far less well.]

Perhaps so. I've had more than enough time to sort through my own, however.

Yeah...that must be an advantage of having lived so long, right?

I would say that it is, yes. I am...incredibly long-lived, by mortal standards.

I'm not surprised to hear that. Most of the Legendaries in my world are, as well, according to the stories about them.

Are those your equivalent to gods?

[oceangirlfriend]

Yeah. They're a sort of Pokemon as well, and come in just as many different forms. There's some stories about them taking human form, though so far no proof of that. They definitely do exist, though-I've seen photo and video evidence, though the extent of their power is more debatable.

I see.

I admit I do not have much communication with the other powerful beings in my own world; just my brother. But I'm...aware of them, and I'm likewise aware of those that I no longer can sense the presence of.
