Welp We're Here and That's What Matters
[Perhaps it's tradition by now, he doesn't know. Still, he does send a note to everyone some time after the trial. Simple and to the point:]
Because everything on this ship is awful, I think a drink is needed. Come get some at the bar, it'll do you some good as long as you don't drink too much
Filbo (pawprint)
[Indeed, if you come to the bar you'll find there's one of everything. Filbo seems to have asked literally every drink he knows or has at least heard about, and lined them up from the most mellow to the strongest. There's one of each, so it's limited, take yours before it's gone! Or...ask Jimmy Buffett for more, he's right there.
Should he be encouraging drinking? He's not completely certain, but he had to do something! And this is as good as anything -- not festive because this is no time to be festive, but also social enough to encourage coming.
This will do.]

gaaaaasp Flayn is drinking
...it's half now.
[Though he's still terrible at coming up with good topics of conversation.
it's one drink!!!!
...Maybe I should not have said anything when we were contemplating our numbers.
[It's fine.]
Seteth is going jiiiii
[He sighs.]
I knew it right away. I guessed it right the first time. But you know, I don't feel any better about it.
He has wine at the fantasy jrpg sacraments, it's fine
[Flayn feels so very fooled, and yet...also some other emotion that she cannot quite place.]
She would not have admitted it so soon, anyway.
no subject
[Lalli, still missing the point of why everyone was arguing with him.]
no subject
[Flayn is at least willing to explain her own thoughts on the matter. Everyone else would have to do so on their own terms.]
But maybe it was foolish of me to think so. Once it was revealed, it...made sense. Plumeria served Freyja as a retainer, and in my experience, those who do so are more than willing to lay down their lives through any means necessary. Of course she would allow herself to die - it was for her Lady. That...does not make it any less sad, though.

[Really he was only right about some of the details. Right for the wrong reasons, really. Which absolutely fits with his character because he is good at noticing things but bad at understanding people.]
...I wish we hadn't been so mean to her at trial. She was trying to help all of us, and we spent the last hours of her life yelling at her.
no subject
[If they get any of these trials wrong, all of them will die. There's no guarantee Jack will hold up his end of the motive bargain, too. It's all a risk, and they're all stressed.]
But perhaps...she was expecting it. "This sort of thing is what mortals do to people like me"...though I cannot speak for her experiences, I can surmise...that the mortals of her world have brought her many pains.
[Which might be why she flipped out over having no hesitation to kill them when her brother was dangled in front of her.]
While it is a sentiment I do not share, I can also see how it might arise.
no subject
[Though that makes him curious, and he's looking for any reason not to dwell on sad thoughts for too long.]
Are you immortal too? Or long-lived?
[She's not human so maybe there's some other parts that are different for her too. And maybe that's why she can understand Freyja better.]
no subject
[After all, the Goddess could die.]
But if my people are left to their own devices, they can be extraordinarily long-lived. It makes friendships and experiencing normal things a little complicated, especially when you do not want to be found out.
[How no one questioned why she hadn't grown at all over five years was a miracle.]
no subject
You'll outlive anyone you make friends with. Isn't that lonely?
no subject
[She was injured and fell asleep for hundreds of years, and everyone save two people she knew remained when she woke. None of her old allies. Not her mother. No one but her father and aunt.]
But if I ignored everyone in the world, I would be much lonelier.
no subject
[Somehow he feels like he understands Flayn, just a little bit. He's not long-lived, but he has plenty of experience in outliving the people he cares about. It is incredibly lonely, yes. But it would be lonelier to never have anyone to begin with.]
All friendships end with a goodbye. It's no reason to never say 'hello'.
[A pause, and then:]
I'll be your friend. Until we have to say goodbye.
[Odds are that Flayn will outlive him by quite a bit. But he can accompany her for at least a small part of her journey, right?]
no subject
[She perks up a little at his offer, and then. Smiles.]
I was under the assumption we were already friends.
no subject
[In case she felt lonely and didn't think she had friends. Lalli's considered her a friend for several weeks now though.]
no subject
Then I thank you. It is actually quite nice to be reminded.
[She will assume friendship unless she is explicitly told no, or made to feel like the answer would be no, but there's so many grey areas to socializing that she's never quite sure of. A direct answer is good.]
no subject
Seeing that smile though, it makes his stomach flop again. Why is he feeling so seasick all of a sudden?]
I'll keep reminding you.
[That doesn't help with his stomach any though. He's going to get some water to drink.]
no subject
Ah that actually sounds really nice, just. Someone always there to remind her, hey, I'm your friend, I won't forget you, that's like the number one thing she wants in life.]
Thank you!
no subject
[He's going to drink down most of that water in one big gulp. It doesn't really settle his stomach though.]
