SIXTH TRIAL

[ It's the same as the other weeks. Two bodies, some time to look, and then Davy Jones comes around to take those of you who are left into the theatre and into the elevator. His expression is dark, difficult to read.

The trip down feels slower than ever. The elevator has gotten so empty, don't you think?

As it reaches its usual destination, the crew of the Dutchman is performing once again. The clouds above have started to darken the once clear tropical waters.

The podiums await you. ]

At yer places! Find who is responsible for all of this!

[ Your numbers can't support many more weeks of this, can they?

Welcome to your sixth trial. ]

Oh, gross, another mercy kill?
leaveittomother: (12)

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would anyone kill someone out of mercy after they ran him over?
magycks: (pic#14733841)

[personal profile] magycks 2021-03-13 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
To ensure he didn't lie there bleeding out for hours? Okay, it was probably to keep him from talking, but still.
leaveittomother: (12)

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Would he be in any condition to tell anyone who did this?

[personal profile] magycks 2021-03-13 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
He was conscious enough to push against the car that was crushing him, he could at least have written a name in blood or something.
leaveittomother: (12)

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
If he was pushing against the car he probably was more concerned with getting out than pinning the blame on anyone.

[personal profile] sivard 2021-03-13 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
...I'm not sure slitting someone's throat after failing to crush them to death is "mercy".

[ Shrugging! ]

Your mileage may vary... no pun intended, not that you'd be the one to call me out on that anyway.

[Yeah that pun goes flying over his head.]

...Actually, you may be onto something here. I found handprints on the front of the roller coaster that looked like someone was trying to push it...

What if that is what happened? Someone else - someone who didn't set up the roller coaster - came across this and killed Risotto to... to put him out of his misery? This same person could have gone after Scott - if we assume that Scott was the one who set the roller coaster up in the first place.

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
We have three sets of hand prints, don't we? Maybe we should try to figure out if they match first. Also, while it might be easy to assume Scott set up the roller coaster...

Do we think he'd be patient enough to do that?
scythegun: (HUH ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-13 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
The ones underneath the roller coaster car were certainly Risotto's.

[None of us are even close to having giant man hands like that, that man was 6'5".]

The ones on the front of the car were slightly smaller than my own. I didn't see anything in the arcade, so I couldn't compare them to the one Zero found.
leaveittomother: (12)

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That still leaves two.
leaveittomother: (12)

[personal profile] leaveittomother 2021-03-13 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Two hand prints, Yeager. We can confirm that one set was Risotto's but not the other two. You said yourself you don't know if both of those were left by the same person or not.

That said, I think it's fair to say they weren't because there was no grease in the blood, right?

Ah, I see, I thought you were talking about other prints that were found. I don't know if we can assume that for certain, but as far as I'm aware, there wasn't.

[Not that he like, examined the blood closely or anything? So that is definitely not bold text.]

It's an idea, but it's assuming a lot. Let's try the timeline-thing from last week. We don't even know who between Risotto and Scott was killed first.
scythegun: (REALIZE ⇝ estelle's the princess?)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-13 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough, ja. The most we have that really ties these together is the presence of the grease, correct?
silentscout: (46)

[personal profile] silentscout 2021-03-13 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Mhmm. So however the person got grease on their hands, that would have to be first.
scythegun: (HUH ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-13 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That does make it look like the roller coaster was tampered with first, then.
silentscout: (21)

[personal profile] silentscout 2021-03-13 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
So Risotto first probably, then Scott. But does that mean Scott killed Risotto? Or did someone else kill them both?
scythegun: (HUH ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Someone else certainly could have killed them both - Scott could have been unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But why would the person who killed Risotto go all the way down to the arcade?

Really doubt we can assume that. But that moron's patience and motivation aside, whoever killed him was also using a knife, yes?
scythegun: (HUH ⇝)

[personal profile] scythegun 2021-03-13 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That does seem likely, since we didn't find any other weapons and knives are quite common from that vending machine.

And there was a greasy handprint next to one of the stab marks in the arcade, presumably either his or his killer's. So that would be, what, either Pilgrim almost getting stabbed in the hand or the killer bracing themself?
