WEEK 8

Good morning, passengers. Happy Sunday. Happy New Year.

Your numbers have officially dropped to single digits. One of you managed to kill the first of the major living obstacles to your collective freedom. A ghost or demon or something nearly killed you. It was a weird week.

The cruise continues on, roller coaster back up and running as ever, arcade free and clear of coins. The last free floor of the ship is open, as well as part of the top deck with... well, something you might expect to see way more on a cruise ship than anything else here. One way or another, you get a feeling you can't shake - things are going to end soon.

No rain yet, but the clouds are closing in fast above you. A cold wind blows during the night, sending the ship gently rocking. Around midnight or so, if you head to the deck, you can hear thunder in the distance.

Careful, don't touch the middle bit--just hold the white bits like this, see? And let it air out for a bit.

[He grabs the strip of white on the end of the photograph and begins fanning it. Every so often, he checks it, until he seems satisfied and presents it to Flayn. The photo is still somewhat dark, but as the seconds pass, it seems to grow more and more clear....]

See? Just like that!

[He offers Flayn a surprisingly pleasant grin.]

[She does as Constantine instructs, holding the photo gingerly on the white bits, until the image comes through. Emily is only in half the picture, and it is a touch blurry, but she gasps in amazement all the same.]

This is - this is a true wonder! The portrait is so true to life, and it appeared so quickly! I-

[There's a hitch in her breath as something sort of. Gently dawns on her.]

I - I wish we had this earlier on.

[....goddess. She's a good kid(?????), he's not really good at this whole comforting people thing, but...

Ah, there are a few things. There is a room dedicated to the little machines that capture images, with a back room that lets you... develop them, I suppose.

Anyway, do you want me to talk about monsters from my world. People seem to like them.

[Kissa is just slowly going back and forth to share her salmon dinner, what a good kitty.]

Well. I am...heartbroken. And I never have been so before. It is awful.

[Data nods; he'll find some paper and a pencil and start sketching.]

I did. I do not believe our new captain will be as willing to wait on our actions as the last.

Not yet. I have been attempting to ensure I have everything in order before trying it out.

[He's finished with that, though, so he'll pick up a camera and kind of... fiddle with it a bit...]

[Data nods and picks up a camera himself, examining it for a moment before selecting a film canister and inserting that.]

I have never used a camera like this, either. We can both learn how to do it.

It was your first time experiencing romantic feelings to that degree?

[Data does, at least, get what's going on here.]

[Constantine's face falls ever so slightly when he realizes what Flayn means. After a moment's hesitation, he gathers himself up and offers Flayn another grin--this time, the corners of his mouth seem a little widely stretched. He nudges her ever so slightly, then gestures towards the camera.]

Well, you know what they say--no time like the present, eh? You and I could take a picture, if you'd like. But make sure to get my good side, alright?

[guffawsungraciously]

...well, yes.

[...why did he make that the introduction to them that’s so morbid—]

But, ah, they are really quite varied outside of that particular quality, and many of them are quite charming, such as khalamari kids.

[They’re not fish, but like, they’re aquatic, and they’re adorable?]

Honestly I'd feel more comfortable sewing by hand anyway. These things, uh, they're common use? But I have never used them before.

[Filbo shrugs]

I guess as long as the job's done it doesn't matter how long it takes, right? I mean, the machines probably just are to make it quicker.

It's such a strange bunch of rooms this time. Why a waterpark when it's not even sunny outside anymore?

And yep, that's about right. The only other note is that any attempt to blow out the candles or smudge the Magic Stuff in there will fail.

Now, how about that armory, Yeager? ]

Oh. That's--oh, no.

[She fell in love and now he's gone. No wonder she's so depressed. That must hurt to no end...]

I don't think he'd have pushed you away. I mean, he was kinda unwilling to be around people? But I don't think he'd have pushed you away knowing it'd hurt you.

[It's hard for Filbo to imagine Flayn being pushy unless she was hella annoyed, and there was no reason for her to be hella annoyed with Lalli. It probably would have gone fine, he thinks]

[Huh! That's definitely weird... but he probably shouldn't mess with it more than that...

Anyway, yes!! Onto the armory, what's going on with the weapons here? Is there anything out of place or noteworthy for him to steal examine?]

That's true, that kraken's gonna be a problem no matter how we try to get away unless Davy Jones is on our side. Which...isn't impossible?

[Filbo shrugs]

He did save our lives, you know. There's hope when it's about Davy Jones helping us if we manage to give him the chance.

[Probably. At least Davy Jones has some leeway despite being under the thing's orders, it seems. Otherwise it wouldn't have been able to tell everybody to go to the elevator and all -- he didn't lock it and force everybody stay in the trial room or something]

He won't -- but I'm a little surprised it hasn't tried to do anything so far. I mean...it's been two days and there's been nothing new other than the clouds and the places. If I didn't remember what happened last trial I'd think Jack was still in charge.

Oh, absolutely. He would have given it to us earlier if they thought it would be used for murder.

[But instead we got... a bunch of other weird shit. It took us awhile to murder anyone with the roller coaster, so this scans.]

Not that I really have much of an interest in that one specifically... but the armory is nice! Oh, and there's the room that the purple key unlocked— Actually, you may not want to go see that one.

If the entire ritual was this being's idea, I imagine it will stick to the established schedule. We should be prepared for this Tuesday to be worse than the rest.

You may be one of the few that'd call an armory 'nice'. But...I guess it won't hurt to take a look. I lost the spear a few weeks ago, may as well replace it with...something else.

[Something he can grip and not lose in embarrassing incidents with Alice and fire]

...nobody's gonna...do whatever that thing wants anymore, no? We all know that's a terrible idea, right?

[He had said that to Yeager the day before, and Yeager had agreed, but something about Data saying Tuesday probably would be worse than the rest just gives him doubts. Even if it's worse, even if that thing threatens something awful or promises something amazing, nobody would kill for it, right?]

Oh, you should have mentioned it! I've got plenty of weapons from the vending machine if you'd like something to replace it.

[yeager does not actually need the armory, he's been hoarding weapons this whole damn game.]

That room is... well, it seems to be... some sort of memorial toward all of us, I suppose? It's rather morbid. There are essentially coffins in there for each of us, though there aren't any bodies or anything of the sort.

[He'll give more detailed info during the next meeting, but poor Filbo does not need to wander in there and panic!!]

[Oh, a room full of coffins for all of them. Charming. Judging by the face Filbo makes, he's definitely not going in there]

...grrrreat! Now that one definitely is meant to rattle us all.

[In which case it was successfully done, Filbo is definitely rattled. Welp. Once the details at the meeting come out he'll feel somewhat less spooked out about it in general because hey, it's not a taunt in the form of 'this is where I'll shove you all once you're all dead, suckers', but for now? He's definitely staying away]

Really? Got any weapons that have, uh, have some reach? I'm pretty sure the closer I am to anything attacking me, the worse it'll be for me. For obvious reasons.

[He once punched Constantine because Constantine asked him to and it proved keeping his distance and running away will definitely do more to keep him alive than fighting, hah]
