SEVENTH INVESTIGATION

Friday morning comes as it so often does. The hallways of the ship are still. Things are... surprisingly normal. As normal as they can feel on a cruise ship populated entirely by a few surviving members of your number and whatever the heck The Captain has become.

And on top of that, it's quiet. The voices of your loved ones no longer ring in your ears, gone as suddenly as they came.

[Wait a second--that announcement didn't say Data was dead, did it? So...that means he's still alive! Just deactivated.

....

Oh, God. Does that mean he has to find out how to reactivate Data???]

[ltcommandroid]

[No need! With no warning, Data abruptly sits upright, still ramrod-straight, and blinks rapidly at nothing for a moment before seeming to register Constantine's presence.]

Constantine? [...oh. Oh, shit, it sure is morning. That's bad!] What has happened?

[Oh, thank God. He doesn't need to go poking Data in a weird attempt to find an on button or something....]

Jasper is dead.

[He delivers the words with a hollow tone.]

What happened? Why are you just--just...lying here?

[ltcommandroid]

[He tilts his head a little, eyes darting for a second or two.]

I seem to have experienced an electrical overload to my systems. [...] Where is Jasper?

[scouserer]

I--I don't know. I heard some people heading down to the lower decks. I decided to stick around, since I thought you were--

[He stops. The implication is clear enough.]

Are you sure you're okay? Like, everything's functioning in your brain and stuff?

[ltcommandroid]

I am...alright. I am sorry to have caused distress.

[Though he seems more unsure than usual, and he isn't getting up off the ground just yet.]

The damage... [He trails off, touching his chest.] The lack of standard insulation likely made it worse than it otherwise would have been.

[Constantine exhales, squeezing his eyes shut and pinching the bridge of his nose.]

Well, I'm glad that you're not dead. You feel like you're up to lookin' around the ship for evidence?

[ltcommandroid]

I suppose.

[He does go to get up at that - he seems sort of unsteady on his feet, which is odd for him, but he's not gonna fall over. Once upright, he glances towards the stairs.]

I heard a sound coming down the stairs last night. It was a loud, metallic clanging. That is why I came over here to investigate.

[scouserer]

[Constantine nods slowly, frowning.]

Do you remember anything else? Anything else at all?

[ltcommandroid]

I did not see who attacked me. But I believe they most likely used a taser. That would be the best choice of weapon - clearly, it was effective.

[scouserer]

[Constantine sucks in a breath.]

Christ. Guess you'll have to deliver this witness testimony at the trial, then. Who would've thought the night you actually apprehended someone, they would tase you?

[He makes sure Data is steady on his feet as...best he can. Data is heavy.]

Take it easy, alright? I'm sure the cats are worried sick about you.

Perhaps I should...go and feed them.

[This is weird, he feels weird, and he hates it!!!]

[Constantine nods.]
