Receive them into a twinkling star
[When the remainder of the passengers returns to the ship, Flayn steals away to read what Constantine gave her upon their parting. She reads it, and cannot find it in her heart to burn it.
Well. With the rest of the letters from the dead it goes. They'll all be on her person, now, which is the safest place she can think to keep such precious words.
Quietly, privately, Flayn comes to Lelouch to ask for his assistance, and soon enough pieces of paper with Flayn's lovely handwriting find themselves slipped under your door.
Please come to the Pub on the seventh floor this evening, so we may not spend this dark night alone.

No more hiding.
Between Lelouch actually knowing how to cook, and Flayn being a doggedly determined young lady, the pub is much more hospitable when you arrive. There are homemade snacks as well as...McDonald's milkshakes and apple pies? And all manner of sweets brought over from the various floors of the ship, as if in Jasper's honor. Lengths of relatively subdued fabric have been cut from bolts in the crafts room and laid out over the tables and bar, and there are even some various liquors put out if you feel like getting absolutely wasted. We're all kind of fucking sad at the moment, it's fine. It's fine. Just eat before you imbibe, please.]

[ She grabs it immediately anyway, of course, but it's still unexpected. Plumeria's the only one who left her anything thus far, and Magica was bound to be the first person to come across her letters — she kind of had to. Fortunately, it's a quick read. Her eyebrows rise precipitously at the first part, and the second half brings her right back down to smirking. Speak of the dart devil! ]
You know, he was fun. Real pity Constantine had to off him.

[Should he pretend to be upset with Constantine? The note Constantine left said he should burn it, meaning all it said is supposed to be secret -- probably because the Captain finding out Constantine wanted to be executed to work from the other side could be bad. Perhaps he should pretend to be angry, yeah]
I'm gonna miss Jasper. He didn't kill me in my sleep, which is...the bare minimum when it's about sharing a place? It's gonna be strange to have the place for myself.
[Truthfully, his opinion of Jasper is way higher than he made it sound right now! But hey, he's got enough social skills to know that's not the sort of conversation Magica would roll with, so he's downplaying that severely]

[ She sets the letter down on the bar and fixes him with a curious, triangular stare. Oh no, has she seen through Filbo's incredible acting?! ]
You don't have to act like you're not devastated, you know. Just as long as you don't expect me to care.
[ I GUESS NOT?? ]

I-I'm not gonna deny, I'm completely devastated for...both of them. Was I really making it that obvious?
[He may not be breaking down in tears, but goodness, he really is transparent when it's about feelings]

[Other candidates possibly did try to use that against Filbo, really. Make him sound too soft for the job]
It's gonna be impossible to make politics my career anyway. I mean, going missing not even three months after getting elected and not being able to explain it? That's gonna tarnish my public image for the rest of my life.
[Well, thanks to the cameras and the smartphone device and everything else he probably can get so much proof of his kidnapping those he talk with will give him the benefit of the doubt, but oh boy is the general public going to look down on him. No way he's going out there to tell everybody about the multiverse and everything else]

... Honestly, politicians have come back from worse.

[Filbo frowns]
I was gonna accept whatever happened because I didn't see how to solve it, but when you say it like that it seems foolish.
[He had spent a couple weeks coming to terms with that he's losing his job -- that he could do something to keep it despite everything didn't...cross his mind at all]
