Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

There may not be much light to differentiate the days here, but the lights of the part of the city you're in change enough by the clock that you can almost believe there's a sun somewhere. It looks like Mayor Fontaine has no intention of going back on his deal, and for the time being? You're all stuck here. But there's plenty to do, and... maybe not plenty to see, but there's enough. There's something, at any rate.

Especially if you're willing to look beyond the surface.

And if you spend enough time around others, you might find something neat!

No matter what, it's time to start getting to know your fellow captives. You might be here a while.

[ You can really see the emotional shift as Nandor, who definitely came in here to steal tablecloths, notices the big penguin. He notices it before he notices Misfire, in fact, which is quite a feat given Misfire is a giant robot and the penguin is either a convincing stuffed animal or a taxidermy. Either way, he's here for it and he's trotting the fuck on over! ]

Oh, who's this little guy?

[Misfire turns to look at the lil penguin. It's just nice to look at it.]

Who, him? [He gives the fake bird a little pat on the head.] I dunno. It's a work in progress - I was thinking something like Freezy? What do you think? Does he look like a 'Freezy' to you?

[He mutters, distantly, as if he doesn't realise he's saying it out loud, a variety of different ways of saying the name as he fiddles with the bird's beak.]

[ it's a group project now, sorry pal ]

Freezy... Freeeezy. [ ... ] I don't know, does it seem right to you? I am thinking maybe he is more of a Scoot.

[dullshooter]

[No this is perfect. This is ideal. He’s loving this.]

Scoot. Scoot. Scoot. [It’s like he’s checking it for mouthfeel.] I think you’re right. He is definitely more of a Scoot.

[He nods, satisfied.]

Just Scoot, though? Or d’ya think he needs some titles?

Perhaps. [ He surveys Scoot with a thoughtful air. ] I mean, typically, you get those by distinguishing yourself in battle, or maybe by having something really fucked up about your body or personality. That way everyone is all, like, "oh, this is Olaf the Disconsolate" instead of "this is Olaf, the big fucking bummer guy who ruined the orgy of 1691 for everybody."

[dullshooter]

[Misfire nods along knowingly. Surely anyone known as ‘the relentless’ would know a thing or two about earning your title.]

Well, Scoot, is there anything distinguishing about you?

[He turns back to face the penguin.

Then, back to Nandor.]

…He is pretty fluffy.

[ Extending the hand with the bigass ring on it: ]

May I?

[ He's got to confirm it tangibly before he starts handing out epithets!... is a complete lie, he just wants to touch a soft toy penguin. ]

[dullshooter]

[Misfire nods, and gestures to the penguin in a very professional manner.]

Please, go right ahead.

[ Thoughtfully patting it on the head... ]

Yes, very soft. But Scoot the Soft, you know, it's kinda... [ Eh! ] What is another good word for it?

[dullshooter]

Completely understand, you don't need to explain to me.

[And he doesn't!]

Scoot the...uhm...hmm... [He clicks his tongue trying to think of something.] Tender? Not the right kind of soft, buuuut maybe he has a good heart?

Scoot the Velvety...? [ He instantly makes a face, still patting the penguin on the head. ] No, that's also shit.

When has anyone described something as velvety?

[Misfire shakes his head.]

Scoot the…uh…[God, how many synonyms are there for ‘soft’?] Disarming? He’s disarmingly soft.

I have, occasionally, but that is neither here nor there.

[ Hmmmmmm. ]

This is true. It will assist him in cutting down those foes who underestimate him.

[dullshooter]

[Misfire squints for a second. He considers something and very tentatively dips his metaphorical toes in.]

...You do realise he's not alive right?

... Yes, Misfire, I understand that he is just a fake stuffed animal with no living foes or personality. I am trying to have fun with it.

[ At absolutely no point was this clear! ]

If you spent time with the same people I do, you'd understand it's a reasonable concern.

[And with Nandor he finds it difficult to tell what's going on in there.]

So...are we settled on Scoot the disarming?

I mean, I personally am not ruling out finding a better word later, but as it seems like we will just be going in circles otherwise...

Of course. Names are temporary. Subject to change. That’s how it goes.

[He bangs his hand on the table like a gavel.]

It’s decided! We hereby declare you Scoot, The Disarming. [He pats the penguin.] It was a long and difficult journey, but I think we all came out of it better people.

[fuckingguy]

[ intoning in a low voice right after misfire says it: ] Scoot the Disarming.

[ Baptism (but like, a dark evil kind so he doesn't need to hiss about it) completed! He nods approvingly. ]

And now that is done.

[dullshooter]

Woah. I got chills.

[That must, surely, make it official.]

Gotta say, I didn’t peg you for the ‘cute and fluffy type’, Nandor.

[If he knew the term ‘gap moe’ he would surely use it here.]

Okay, I am not cute. Sometimes I am fluffy, but that is different.

I just thought it was funny that a guy known for relentless pillaging could also be smitten with a cuddly bird.
