Good morning, New Rapture. A new day is dawning.

It's now been a week since you were all captured. Perhaps you've already settled in. Perhaps you're already confident that you'll make it out of New Rapture alive. How serious about this could Mayor Fontaine possibly be, really?

While there still may not be much to do in your little hotel bubble, you've at least been granted a little more now - some kind of mysterious room and a sizeable library of all things. And in all the places you've looked so far, you've found valuable information, and even learned some of the story of New Rapture along the way.

Make sure to keep talking to the others! You want to keep those regain coins flowing, don't you?

I’m pretty sure if there are any more of them, they’ll be piled high in Dandy’s room. I’m counting down the minutes until some internal sensor tells him I’ve got this one.

[The man just has a way of knowing when something lewd is afoot.]

And if a kid tries to sneak a look at this, I’ll roll it up and hit them on the nose with it. That make you feel better?

Usually it’s the last thing they see, too.

[He offers her the nerf gun.]

One of your favorites, hmm? All right.

[He looks up and smiles.]

Your wish is my command.

It was a shallow part, so no harm done except to our dignity.

[And Obi has little enough of that.]

Still, next time could be worse, so I don't want anyone else trying it. 'Least, not on purpose.

I mean, I don't know about any inner workings. It's just normal? There's no magic or technology or layers of other worlds to deal with. The most troublesome things I handle are the occasional assassination or kidnapping attempt. You know, from normal people, with normal abilities. No... tellyporting.

[True to his word, Obi hasn't moved when Hodaka returns, sitting as still and intent as a cat at a window. His gaze remains on Hina, though of course, all the hostages are close enough together in that space that he can still see his redhead without turning.]

Welcome back. Everything good now, Li'l Daka?

[He doesn't look away even now.]

[Haha, good thing no one has to worry about that here.]

Guess she found out who to complain to after all.

[Obi takes more as directed.]

Guess you're the type to take in strays after all, Li'l Daka. Thank youuu.

The atmosphere isn't perfect, but maybe you can make the most of it here in that case.

...ten years, maybe a little longer. That's dogs, though. Leafeon looks more like a fox, and people don't really keep those as pets.

[Yeah, you know what, this is depressing.]

Not that I have pets at all, I travel too much.

We do have a lot more immediate concerns.

[Even if Brett suspects those would be a lot easier to deal with, too, if they knew more about the Mayor's motivations.]

...I don't think...this isn't going to end well. [He's tried to be optimistic, but with hostages on the line? That changes everything.]

That's your mom?!

[The next few words are supposed to be muttered to himself, but they are absolutely audible, without a doubt.]

Man! What I wouldn't give to call her "Mommy."

[Dandy clears his throat, turning to ask Hagakure one of those questions that is meant to come off as a joke, even though it isn't really...]

This would be a bad time to ask for her number, huh.

Oh yeah. No doubt.

[He waves it casually.]

Does that mean you won’t need it for the whole of our long and boring stay here?

[bootyhunter]

[His lips curl into a pouty frown.]

If I'm gonna get my rocks off, I'm gonna wait around for the real thing.

[Oh! He sounds surprisingly resolute about all of that, except-]

What do you want?

I wouldn't be here if I didn't.

[ He's smiling now but it's empty, hollow. After a moment he waves his hand. ]

It doesn't really matter what I think, does it? It matters what everyone thinks.

[Normally, Dandy being Dandy(tm) about his mom would at most get a mortified laugh out of Hagakure, and he knows that Dandy is just trying to lighten the mood...but he's still very high-strung in the moment.

He whips around, tears having welled up in his eyes at this point, and lashes out.]

Seriously, man?! I thought she might be dead up until today and now she's in danger of being put in one of these things!! Can you not for like two seconds?!

[...he's definitely going to feel bad about this later and apologize for it, but like. Man.]

I'm taking in information with my eyes, it's close enough.

[With that said, pores over the page with great interest. A small whistle escapes him- he definitely likes what he's seeing.]

Right? I didn't see anything like it in the library... Maybe this one slipped through the cracks because of the vending machine? I've seen some, uh..."interesting" crap drop from it.

[Yeah, by this point, Hagakure's probably gotten a decent grasp on everyone's captives. It does take a moment to register the connection, but an alarmed "ohhhhhhh" escapes him when it does.]

Man, that's just like dumping salt in the wound. I'm sorry.

[He wishes he could offer something better, but...that's pretty damn dire.]

Huh? [Apparently even Hagakure didn't realize until Hodaka pointed it out.] Oh! Cool, thanks.

[Okay, he's actually properly in now. He'll just help himself to an open seat near the kitchenette!]

So were you gonna say you were livin' on your own?

[For once he is trying to apply some intuition, only because he knows that life.]

[Dandy's mouth hangs open in surprise.

In a quiet, surprisingly docile manner, he nods his head up and down, giving Hagakure more space to get whatever he's got on his mind out for now.

He's overtaken by Hagakure's grief- In theory, he should understand it, and he does. Dandy is a sensitive creature, provided that his heart is open. The pyonium that gives him his ability to think, feel, and simply just be among a variety of other things...

A case could be made for it being sensitive to the emotions of others. So much so that Dandy, too, hurts when the other people around him are hurting too.]

[Hagakure takes in the sight of Simon and just grins a little. Now that's an anime protagonist if he's ever seen one.]

So that's your beacon of hope... I totally get it just by looking at him. At least that group's got a lotta strong people to help keep morale up.

["Former" Supreme Commander though, huh...]

Are you sharin' a job with him, then? Didn't your profile say you helped beat the big bad guy?

I'm sure they can take care of themselves, but... I certainly understand the concern. I hope you're able to return to them soon.

I do think that would go against all the work the Mayor put into setting this up... but we certainly can't rule out an accident.

[can't wait for everyone to drown and misfire to win the game!!!]
